Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 30, 2010 9:23 pm Hello, I am hoping to replace our under cabinet rangehood with another of the same style but ducted straight up through the roof. Replacing the unit with another of the same dimensions will be simple enough.. some concerns. The most convenient ducting will be straight up through the rear of the cupboard, ceiling and roof. Luckily our cupboards reach up to the ceiling. I will need to cut holes in the top and bottom of the cupboard cabinet as well as through 2 fixed shelves. There may not be enough gap in the shelves to fit in a jigsaw and I dont have a 150mm holesaw with a 500mm extension !! do they even make them that large ? The best way I can see to do it is to remove the cupboard and knock off the rear panel and use a jigsaw & coping/fret saw if necessary. Once this was done, I assume the next step would be to cut the hole in the ceiling. Then I would punch a centre mark in the iron clip-lock roof so that I can go on top and conveniently cut the hole. I envisage a bit of fiddling so that the ceiling and roof can be sealed to the duct *before* the cupboard goes back in. Anyone have any comments or suggestions ? Anyone have tips for fitting the cowling on the roof ? I havent done anything like that before. cheers Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room. There is a hallway/entry that is never used, so was thinking this could be an option.
