Water droplets are the killer! That said, I love the colour, very easy to live with. We have had lots of people (even renovators) mistake it for stone - so for the price, that can't be a bad thing! Re: Is Diamond Gloss worth using with rolled edges? 8Jun 11, 2010 11:36 pm Car polish ay Dadnsue?? Hope your'e not washing it on the lawn (weak joke.) That actually looks terrific Newby126! A very smart kitchen! So nice to see how it would look-we're having light cupboards too. Have you noticed its either chocolate cupboards with white tops or vice versa at the moment- I know the white on white kitchens will not date as much probably but the first thing I fell in love with house wise was this colour.Hmm.. now I'm confused again but my bench also has angles in it as well as upstand so it won't look as effective in Diamond gloss. I'm trying to talk myself out of it aren't I? Do you know this builder charges you for NOT having the upstand that ALL their designs have- a little revenue raising on the side as the 'fashion' is flat bench. Started at last!! The only thing I would be doing is playing the triangle! I have not one musical bone in my body (I love listening to music I'm just not good at it!) You can select not to have that funny corner and just ask for plain edge - on the edge of ours we selected it to be made from something different (I don't remember what it is called sorry - hopefully someone can jump in and assist here) but basically what it is, is a clear strip on the edge rather than seeing that brown line/join line - it looks a lot cleaner - I do know that it cost us extra though (not sure how much extra) [/quote] What 'colour 'is the clear edge- I mean what is underneath? This forum is so great isn't it- where else can you find all this out? Started at last!! We really didn't like the brown line that other laminate edgings had so the decision was easy for us. I was under the impression that any "rolled" edgings had the brown line - but could be wrong! Here are some close up shots of the benchtop edging - these were when the kitchen was work in progress, so excuse the mess. I think in some shots the benchtop still has the plastic on the top, so don't panic if it looks yucky! Underneath the bench its a clear strip to plain white underside. You only see it if you stick your head right under the bench. Re: Is Diamond Gloss worth using with rolled edges? 11Jun 12, 2010 11:23 am We have just installed Laminex DG pure mineral stone in the square edge with acrylic edging....absolutely LOVE it...and find it easy to keep smear free. I think the lighter colours are easier to keep 'clean'..or don't show up streaks so much...but I use paper towel with white vinegar to get it streak free..it works easy as...and is so shiny and 'clean'. We had DG starlight ( black) installed in a new kitchen for my son's unit and the white vinegar works a treat there too ( if he uses it ) Am about to have DG white valencia put into the bathroom too. Good to see the angled bench that we're having. Duh! I still don't get the "clear edging" bit. Its not 'clear'- its the same colour as the top!? Thanks for the website- I emailed it to my builder. As we are doing two on a block- living in one- I am doing this DG bench flat for the one we're selling. Started at last!! I get it now! I guess thats the end of this thread. It was fun and very informative. See ya around the forum.I'll leave it on in case anyone else wants to go on with it. The bench tops do look "real" and very nice but this time I think I won't choose it but will be interested to see how 'next door' turns out. Started at last!! Looks just like mine as I too have the diamond gloss pure mineralstone with diamond gloss edging (can be seen on my blog). Just wondering do you dilute the vinegar in water first or just use it straight? I have just been using spray on mine and it looks terrible with lots of streaks and I have only had my house for a week! Building in Mooroolbark! Does it make the house smell? Re: Is Diamond Gloss worth using with rolled edges? 17Jun 22, 2010 3:49 pm Hey guys...sorry, just saw you ask. I use white vinegar neat...just tip a bit on a folded piece of paper towel and wipe over the bench...doesn't have to be too 'wet'. Sometimes I just dry with a clean cloth afterwards (if I've been a little over generous with the vinegar) ...and sometimes not. This morning I dried afterwards and got interupted half way through...went back to finish and it ws already dry and no difference to where I hadn't dried!!...so probably no need to do it. The bench is just sooooooooooooo glossy. Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom. I want to remove stains and gloss seal.
