Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 10, 2010 2:12 pm We are having quite a large kitchen and would love stone bench tops! however not sure if the budget will allow for this. The back and side benches will be about 5 meters. We were thinking about having all white cupboards and the same laminex tops and then the breakfast bar which is 3 meters in stone and making it a different colour to make it a bit of a feature. I hope I am making sense. So did you think that this could work or would it look odd??? Any ideas would help Cheers Re: Would this look odd!!! 3Jun 10, 2010 2:23 pm I think it would look great, like a feature bench instead of a feature splashback. I have seen this done with one of the benchtops in timber and it looked gorgeous! It is quite a large kitchen, so whatever you choose it will be seen due to the sheer size. Re: Would this look odd!!! 6Jun 10, 2010 7:07 pm xquisite I think it will look good. And the white laminate benchtop should be fine. We have a 35 year old one which we are about to replace but it really has minimal scratching even now. I was hoping someone would come on who had experience with one that's good Re: Would this look odd!!! 7Jun 10, 2010 8:15 pm I was just in a kitchen yesterday with 2 different coloured benchtops. Looked awesome. They had the darker colour on the island and used the splashback tiles to tie it together by going with a matching tone. Was really nice. It may look strange having two different sufaces abutting each other. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11584 Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets.
