Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 08, 2010 6:35 pm Hi everyone, I tried to post this before but it somehow disappeared? We had our colour selection appointment the other day and my indecisive self is starting to wonder if I have chosen the right colour combination for the kitchen Kitchen cabinet doors: Laminex Oyster Linea Natural Finish: http://www.laminex.com.au/controls/prod ... er%20Linea Benchtop: Caesarstone ‘Zulu’: http://www.dra.econcepts.net.au/images/ ... 0_zulu.jpg Splashbacks: Black glass splashbacks (an upgrade) or Loretto Grey tiles http://www.graceceramiche.com/roman/pro ... %2025x33.3 Floor: Spotted Gum timber floor We really like the cabinet doors so I guess the issues here are the benchtop and splashbacks. Do you guys think ‘Zulu’ is too dark and harsh? Will it match the floorboards? Another option for benchtop is Caesarstone ‘Latte’ which I believe is quite popular in this forum. Do you think 'Latte' will look better? Please help, I'm so confused Thanks! Re: Kitchen Dilemma 2Jun 08, 2010 6:49 pm Re: Kitchen Dilemma 4Jun 08, 2010 8:53 pm I love the benchtop but think a black glass splashback maybe too dark. Have you considered adding a different colour? I geuss I'm not a big fan of black and I've heard black glass splashbacks show streaks and marks heaps. Just my opinion. Decision decision robinred55: still unsure about the splashbacks, you're right, black could be too dark...maybe I should go with whitish colour? Aaron&Erin: I loveee your Zulu benchtop! Thanks everyone, please keep the suggestions coming Re: Kitchen Dilemma 9Jun 09, 2010 9:52 am robinred55 I love the benchtop but think a black glass splashback maybe too dark. I am not a fan of dark benchtops but I think your cabinet laminate and benchtop work fine. The splashback to me brings the whole thing "down" and personally I would go for a lighter color, something more in your laminates spectrum to tie the whole thing together. Re: Kitchen Dilemma 10Jun 09, 2010 11:37 pm I love all the colours but agree with SUH - I think all of the colours would look great with a cabinet colour that isn't so "soft" or "neutral" so to speak - but it depends on the feeling you want from the kitchen, whether you want a softer tone? We're having Western Myall as our splashback on clear glass - which looks nearly black/really dark grey with caesarstone urban - so these are quite dark too - but I like dark Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Kitchen Dilemma 11Jun 09, 2010 11:53 pm I love the zulu too...and agree the black may look too dark...and show smears/streaks. We are about to have our bathroom tiled (mon/tues) with Loretto grey light tile -( it comes in dark and light) with a diamond gloss white valencia vanity benchtop. Will try to put up a pic for you when it's done. I have a pic of the Loretto tile (it's the middle tile) here Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Kitchen Dilemma 12Jun 14, 2010 3:50 pm Thanks for all the input, guys! We have finally decided to change the stone benchtop to CaesarStone 'Ice Snow' and glass splashback in 'Vivid White'. Here's hoping they all go well together! Thanks for sharing. Looks good. The joiner has come back with a quote of close to 5k. I think we are going to not do it. Attaching panelling is something they are dead… 11 10123 The gap can be adjusted so it's tighter. You can definitely set up corner cabinets to have the same gap as standard doors. 2 8595 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 3664 |
