Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 31, 2010 9:01 pm We have bought an apartment off the plan and have chosen the kitchen joinery and bench tops from the palette the developer provided.
The cupboards are to be a Dulux colour called Carriage P13B7 (a darkish earthy brown kind of colour) with caesar stone tops in Glacier 3144 (an off-white colour with an earthy fleck through it - which matches the colour of the joinery). The only colours to choose from for the splash back (which forms back wall of kitchen area and has cupboard joinery bordering it on all sides) is White G122004 or the same colour as the joinery i.e. a splashback in the Dulux Carriage. Both splash back options are 6mm toughened glass. I would really appreciate advice on which colour splash back to choose. The kitchen, dining and lounge are all one open plan room - not that big i.e. 3.5 metres by 8.4 metres and from what I've been told the walls will be white (not sure which one though). Many thanks for advice. Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 3May 31, 2010 9:06 pm Kimmy, the rental we are currently in has an earthy brown cupboard, off white benchtop and earthy brown glass splashback-it comes up quite well. The kitchen is in a very open area which has plenty of light, so the brown splashback isn't too dark. Best way I can describe the white splash back is it it looks very clean and bright white against the glacier caesar stone bench. Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 5May 31, 2010 9:19 pm Starfire means it's perfectly clear glass and if the white is bright then it sounds like it is Starfire. You could go either way, if it were me, as much as I love brown I would go white only because it sounds like there is a lot of brown already and I've seen white glass and it's quite beautiful..really crisp (think George Hamilton's teeth) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 6May 31, 2010 9:22 pm Thanks Suh-now every time I look at the Dulux Vivid White starfire glass splashback I'm having I'll be thinking Of the above photo! George is still hot Dee, it's not the worst image you could have Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 8May 31, 2010 9:28 pm True......could be Fat bas tard from the Austin Powers movies! Damnit-why did I do that? Now I'll have to go google picture of Sean Connery in his prime.... Sorry Kimmy-sidetracked there! I was afraid it was a no, no to pick the white as even though it is white, it really is a big contrast to the cupboards and the bench top (which almost looks cream next to it). Now I will see a good set of incisors every time I look Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 10May 31, 2010 9:36 pm Seems like you have made your decision! AS I said the brown here is quite good. So the Dulux carriage would form a border to the white splash back, glacier bench top with gas hobbs and white on white joinery area across the back wall. The island in front which contains sink insert, dishwasher drawer etc would be the glacier caesar stone with Dulux Carriage joinery. Thoughts anyone? And Deemaree, a picture of your kitchen would be great to see! Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 17Jun 01, 2010 10:24 am Just looking at my benchtop against my cupboards, I have silver inset handles separating the two, which I am really grateful for as I don't think I would like the Nougat next to the white cupboards. I thought Nougat was going to be a lot whiter than it was, but it wasn't, and I have a choc brown splashback and white overhead cupboards...I don't think I would put a very white splashback with an offwhite benchtop. Re: Help Please to Choose Splashback Colour 18Jun 01, 2010 11:47 am suh kimmyone Yeah a picture would be awesome Don't sweat it kimmy, she'll get us a photo eventually I'm assuming you meant the rental kitchen... Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3230 |
