It'd be 4m+ lenght and will have cooktop on the main bench and hoping to raise it....or just extend by 30-40cm from normal bench.. what do you think??? Re: Raised breakfast bar with brackets!! what's you thought 2May 29, 2010 10:40 am Hi, I think it looks ok but if your cooktop in on the main bench you wouldnt have a splachsback for it which in my opionion is best so you dont have mess splattering everywhere from cooking. Just a thought. Also do you know if you can get stools which will sit at the right height for the raised part of the bench? Yes, easily. We have a raised breakfast bear, (it doesnt have the cook top on it though or metal brackets) and we found getting higher stools was not an issue. Many stools also have adjustable heights so you could get that sort if you wanted. Raised breakfast bars seem to have fallen out of fashion, most new houses now just have flat ones, not sure why - I like the way the raised part provides some separation of kitchen and liveing area, whilst still maintaining the benifits of open space design. Re: Raised breakfast bar with brackets!! what's you thought 4May 31, 2010 11:12 pm I would be okay with the raised breakfast bar if it did not have the cooktop there. There is always a chance of the pot boiling over and splashs scolding someone. Its just too risky Re: Raised breakfast bar with brackets!! what's you thought 5Jun 01, 2010 12:02 am If you want the cooktop on the same area as the raised bar then i would turn to a safer approach ie not metal poles but a full barback 1100 high and the bar sitting on top. Not only will this be easier to clean but also safer. Raised bars are slightly more dangerous than flat bars due to being above the cooking pots and pans. The spitting fat and constant steam will have more potential contact with an individual than being at level height with a flat bar. Usually people have a sink in the main part so concern generally isnt a priority. Here is a design that utilises the barback method, looks nice and modern and yet hides a sink or cooktop from view and keeps it open plan. If you placed lights above the raised bar, it would create more of a seperate space which wouldnt be bad either.
