Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 27, 2010 5:55 pm Hi guys. great forum getting so much useful info here thanks for the replies upfront hehe We're building complete 250 with Redink homes in Perth. Their standard benchtop width was 60cm through out so increased the breakfast bench bit to 90cm. length of it is 3.5m and there's going to be cook top in the middle! Is that enough????? length of it is 3.5m and there's going to be cook top in the middle! Or people have wider? could you please show pictures and tell me what's the size of it? I tried to go display homes and measure it then got told off by sales rep....saying "are you comparing your house to this?" so they know I'm not interested in this house... haha felt kida sorry too....especially they're working on the weekends and this little asian chick popped out of nowhere and start measuring stuff....hehe could you please help us!! Re: Width of breakfast bench. 90cm...is that enough?? 2May 27, 2010 6:24 pm Hi we're building with redink as well (the benchmark) and our benches are 60cm wide (as standard), we also added a 30cm breakfast bar.
Our current rental has 79cm bench tops. edit for mistype haha, also I think that will be fine, especially when your adding the breakfast bar to it. Re: Width of breakfast bench. 90cm...is that enough?? 3May 27, 2010 6:28 pm Hi Purple butterfly. yes...so that should be enough right? reading through forum, some has 1.2m wide or even 1.5m...so started to think maybe it's not wide enough especially with cooktop on. but should be ok....wouldn't it. Re: Width of breakfast bench. 90cm...is that enough?? 4May 27, 2010 6:29 pm I think it will be fine, we're having a sink on that part and there is still plenty of space (ours is 4.3metres long though) Re: Width of breakfast bench. 90cm...is that enough?? 5May 27, 2010 11:03 pm Hi Saemiseon. 90cm is the standard, but with a cooktop on the breakfast bar instead of the sink, I would go a little wider if possible. If you use a standard cook top which is about 10cm in from edge and then it about 50cm wide, that leaves only 30cm on other side. Very much in easy reach for small children's arms to reach over and burn their little fingers. With a sink, 90cm would be fine though. Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. A waffle pod slab does not go with maple syrup. Where a builder has gone belly up, the certifier passes the file… 7 2433 Thanks again for this information.
