Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 15, 2010 8:21 pm Im new to this site & love all the advice & expert knowledge everyone has here (with the exception of me). Im confused about Diamond gloss - I want them for our kitchen (the cabinetry). the kitchen people I spoke to said that b/c they're laminate they're very durable - more hardy than 2 pak but now I've been reading that diamond gloss isnt that hardy I really want the glossy look but it has to be fairly durable as we have heaps of friends with kids any advice would be so appreciated. cheers CC Re: So confused about glossy cabinets. want gloss but not 2 2May 15, 2010 8:34 pm Welcome chi chi I don't know much about diamond gloss but I have 2 pac and can be quite fragile still I would do it, but I am older with very few small visitors .... although my adult visitors probably do more damage Re: So confused about glossy cabinets. want gloss but not 2 3May 15, 2010 8:39 pm my kitchen cabinets are going to be Padbury Panelart Artic White in the Lustre finish (which is glossy) and my laundry bench is in Designer white high gloss. I've been doing searches on here & have just read about polytec ''Createc high gloss doors & panel. it sound promising. aggghhh Im still confused.....I just want someone to tell me which is the best one to get & that it durable & shiny. Re: So confused about glossy cabinets. want gloss but not 2 5May 15, 2010 8:43 pm I had matte finish cupboards in my last house with gloss finish laminate benchtops in the kitchen and wet areas- I have to say that the kitchen benchtops did have some scratches after 5 years but the ones in the wet areas were fine. I think (hope ) that the cupboards would hold up better because the benchtop had heavy pots etc landing on it (bloody teenegers!). If you are wanting the cupboards in gloss its either 2pack, very nice but $$$ and can scratch or a gloss laminate which is more resistant but can still scratch. Polytec and laminex, amerind... there are others too that have a gloss laminate. Who is doing your kitchen? They should be able to give you quotes on the difference in price and which suppliers they use. I used a gloss laminate beacuse 2pack over our budget and we are very happy.
