Cheers, Earl Re: Support bench for ceasar stone 84Nov 18, 2007 7:44 pm If you're spending $900 just to get a extra 20 mm strip of Ceaserstone along the rear, it's not good value in my opinion. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Support bench for ceasar stone 85Nov 18, 2007 9:15 pm I dunno why they have to make it so bloody complicated! I'm just at the stage where you say "yeah, whatever!" From what i could understand with my phone call with her this afternoon she said that the 40mm strip would be around the sides to hide the shadow line but to get it to the floor on either side would be an extra $1000 per side. I've already blown the budget getting all my "prettys" ie timber doors, bifold to decking, extra decking and a few other bits here and their so i thought just having the skirting around the top would look good, if not better then the exposed shadow line. I dunno why she has only mentioned it to the rear on the quote ![]() Re: Support bench for ceasar stone 86Nov 19, 2007 7:33 am Ah, the plot thickens...
From what you have said I am now thinking that you have an island/breakfast bar overhang with waterfall sides in Caesarstone and all tops specified at 20mm? If so then the quote just to increase the rear profile makes sense as it would only have been a 20mm strip along the width of the bench. (You didn't say anything about the front elevation) Adding 20mm to the waterfall sides would mean double sheeting the entire side which is almost 1sq m per side, and I can see why they are trying to hit you for $1K per side to do this, although if you already have 20mm waterfall sides doubling it for this price is a bit of a rip. Of course there are other options like double sheeting only on the rear side of the overhang for the top and the sides (but you have a substrate on your top so you can't really double up all the way the the backs of the cabinets) Once again this is not worth $1K per side plus $900 for the top. Having access to some plans and elevations of your proposed kitchen would really help here - is that something you can get from your builder? Any kitchen I do both I and the client sign every page of a full set of plans and elevations detailing exactly what is going to be supplied in the kitchen fitout. Cheers, Earl DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Thanks for your input. It is a skillion roof carrying both ceiling and roof loads. I didn't think of LVL so I will look at this option.
