Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 06, 2010 11:47 pm Hi There I am in the process of renovating our kiitchen and have purchased the Bosch induction cooktop. Not one of my current pots and pans is suitable (not even my $250.00 Bessemer Fryingpan aaargh!) Has anyone got any recommendations as far as the cookware goes? I am drawn to Scanpan I think because of the name, but am open to other brands that are easy to clean and induction friendly! I am also leaning towards stainless steel rather than non stick so I can give it a good scrub without fear of scratching away the bottom. Thanks heaps - Janine Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 2May 07, 2010 12:32 am Hi Janine, My mum has got Baccarat stainless pots with glass lids which work really well & look pretty too . I'm looking @ getting either those or Raco for myself. We both have gas cooktops though; I'm not sure what's good for induction. I seem to remember that copper based pots work well with your sort of cooktop- Harris Scarfe has a Raco copper base set on sale for about $250 at the moment if u r interested (was just reading over the catalogue tonight). Good luck with the search for your pots! Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 3May 07, 2010 6:29 am Been using the scanpan for a while and they are nice solid pots. Also have Circulon non-stick because hubby can't use S/S and moans too much. Both I have picked up on good specials at Robins Kitchen or Peters of Kensington (online). I did check they were good for induction when I bought because thats what I plan to put in the house. Possumchops Now the proud owner of 3.7acres of Serenity. Colour selection completed! Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 4May 07, 2010 8:28 am We have Scanpan and they are well built but I have to say, after using them for 10 years I do not really like them. The non-stick just does not work and they really discolor quite quickly. I would not buy again. having said that, I don't really have anything to recommend. Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 7May 08, 2010 1:47 pm I have the Scanpan Fusion 5 set which I love. It isn't non-stick so I can scrub it with the scourer and they are fairly easy to clean. Cheapest place to buy them is at Peters of Kensington. Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 10May 10, 2010 1:59 pm I have a few Le Creuset pots and pans, they are fantastic and the quality has been exceptional. Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 11May 10, 2010 2:09 pm cant believe i am saying this however the baccarat ones seem great for induction. The have a good solid flat bottom. This is really important with induction as the pot has a big effect on the performance of the stove as it becomes the element. Had a guy out from electrolux and he was surprised at how much better the stove work with them. Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 12Jun 10, 2013 1:03 pm I cook on induction for some years now. There is no need to scrub the pots and pans as with induction food doesn't get burnt. I had to cook for a week on gas recently and couldn't believe how different it is. In terms of pots and pans any induction suitable will do. I have Scanpan, Circulon, Creuset and a Miele cooking set that came with the induction cooktop. I have a couple of old Raco pots they work on induction, however if I had to compare them all, the water boils quickest with the Miele set which is a Finnish brand. For what I know from friends, the IKEA 365 series is fine too and looks good. I would not spent a ridiculious amount of money, go for the once you feel comfortable with. Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 15Jun 21, 2013 12:14 am I was told Silit is quite a good brand, also WMF and Iittala (Miele uses Iittala). There's a also a new range from Ikea called SENSUELL that seems quite good (esp. for that price range). I had a look at them when I was there a few weeks ago and it feels quite heavy. And the aluminium core goes all the way from the bottom to the side so it heats up really fast and evenly and it's one-piece wrap design, unlike many saucepans which have a heavy layered base "stuck" to the bottom. http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/40207334/ Re: Which brand of Saucepans should I get?? 16Jul 25, 2013 4:35 pm I have an Ilve Induction. I have two Le Creuset Cassaroles which I use and are great. My first purchase was a box of Induction Circulon. It is not as good as my Scanpan pot and even better is Swiss DIamond. I am over mid range pots and pans. I am slowly replacing my Circulon with the Swiss Diamond range and WOLF. Expensive and VERY worth it. Thank you. That is really helpful.
