Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 04, 2010 4:15 pm I have no plans at the moment so try stay with me. Our kitchen runs parallel to alfresco then dining and living L around one side of the alfresco. Our kitchen will be one long bench against the wall with an island. The kitchen area is 4.5m long if you keep it in line with the alfresco doorway off the kitchen. Is this spacious enough? Re: Kitchen bench length 3May 04, 2010 5:17 pm Ms P, I have similar room layout, we have on wall just over 4 meters not included wip & fridge space, which has the cooker and sink located on it, the island in 1800x1200 with nothing on in, we also have a small kick in the bench which opens onto the back deck around a meter in length. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Kitchen bench length 6May 04, 2010 6:39 pm We have 4m long island bench which houses our sink almost in centre - working area is 1300mm on one side and 1500mm on other side (our sink is extremely large one from USA with three bowls undermounted). Then we have an appliance wall that houses a 1100mm range cooker with bench space of 750mm on either side. I think that it depends on whether you are having any overheads or storage elsewhere? We have no overheads cabinetry however my pantry is around 5500m in length so all electrical appliances are stored in it, nothing left out on benches. Some things are worth waiting for. I've put dimentions on there too, once mr draftsman puts it into his computer they will change I think the space is still a bit We were looking at two options for the kitchen. Put a L kitchen below the living and dining to the right of it or put two long benches opposite the alfresco and put dining in the corner. Would it be silly if the Kitchen benches didn't line up with the living/alfresco wall? I hope I make sense! Re: Kitchen bench length 9May 04, 2010 8:12 pm Check out this plan's kitchen-friends are building it but they have moved the alfresco to be opposite the kitchen area-so similiar to yours. http://www.nationalbuilders.com.au/PDF/ ... 0E_web.pdf Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Kitchen bench length 10May 04, 2010 9:04 pm We will be having a 4metre island bench. It will pretty much be most of our workspace, as the back bench is eaten up with a 900 wide freestanding oven. I think we only have 700mm each side of the oven. We have placed our sink, which is on the island bench, right over to one end of the bench, therefore leaving plenty of uninterupted bench space Re: Kitchen bench length 12May 04, 2010 11:31 pm Our island bench is 3.5m long and 1.2m wide, double sink with double drainer (huge!), and it has SO MUCH prep space, it's awesome. I'm completely in love with it. 4.5m should be ample for a bench with only the sink in it. Hi - thanks for your reply.
