Just wanted to know if anyone has the experience of mirrored splashbacks. Thought it would be good to see the reflection of the sea/trees rather than looking at a wall. What do you think?
All advise would be really appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Re: Mirrored Splashback 2May 03, 2010 1:35 pm I considered a mirrored splashback-but then decided that I didn't need to see my own reflection everytime I was in the kitchen! But for the 99% of the rest of the time, they actually make a kitchen look very busy and show every mark on their surface....twice!!! Re: Mirrored Splashback 5May 03, 2010 3:09 pm We are getting the mirrored splashback but the mirror has a smokey tinge to it. Unless you want a light colour glass slapshback all darker colours will show the marks the same as the mirrored one. It's up to you what you like and can live with. You just need to have a good glass shammy - I do have the Enjo one which is very good but even some available at the supermarket are not bad. Oh, so a white (or light coloured) glass spash does not show that much "stuff" (yeah, definitely not a Marry P. here )??? (I'm talking about a regular glass, not mirror ...) Re: Mirrored Splashback 7May 03, 2010 3:55 pm I think a mirror would show more stuff.... think about your bathroom mirror covered in toothpaste and water droplets I love the mirrored splashbacks but not if it's reflecting a mess Now I'm confused...Lex where did you come from...who we answering Re: Mirrored Splashback 11May 03, 2010 4:54 pm We're going with black mirrored - stopsol grey it is called. It is just stunning, so I figured it was worth the extra cleaning required. Hubby has insisted that he have it in writing that I will be in charge of cleaning it The sample that we have is really easy to clean - and I've tried soiling it with numerous kitchen-type messes. Vinegar clean up and then a dry off with a soft, dry cloth (microfibre and chamois type work really well), and it comes up a treat. I'm not sure how much worse it will be over a large area, but I'm hoping to be able to let you know in the next couple of months!! Re: Mirrored Splashback 12May 03, 2010 5:13 pm How about something different, stayed at a beach house at byron bay and the splashback was an enlarged panoramic photo behind the glass of the actual view. It was probably 5 meters long and looked awsome, best of both worlds really! Re: Mirrored Splashback 13May 03, 2010 7:44 pm suh .. Now I'm confused...Lex where did you come from...who we answering Oh ?!??! Well, noticed that comment from Bagheera and just wanted to hear everyone's opinion on light/white vs. coloured glass splash ... that's all Do people think that medium/darker colour shows more marks? Or does white glass also show everything mercilessly? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Mirrored Splashback 14May 03, 2010 7:48 pm Lex suh .. Now I'm confused...Lex where did you come from...who we answering Oh ?!??! Or does white glass also show everything mercilessly? Just joking I actually was answering you but then realised it wasn't your question to begin with but that's ok, I don't care who I answer Well to answer the above question I have dark glass and you can see water or food splashes but no colours in it i.e. spag bol sauce, I would expect a light colour you would see the splashes of red or yellow if a curry, either way it would need to be cleaned. Re: Mirrored Splashback 15May 03, 2010 7:49 pm The rental we are in has a chocolate brown glass splashback and it shows everything! I'm glad that I've chosen white! I have a friend with White on Starfire, it looks beautiful. Re: Mirrored Splashback 18May 03, 2010 8:04 pm That's what I'm having Suh- I love colour but the background palette in the kitchen is white-then I can play to my haert's content with accessories! Badh has a stunner white on white kitchen ... I've been looking at it over and over and I really can't fault the white on white . I shouldn't chicken out now, should I, when I wanted it all along Another good thing is that then I don't have to think about the colour of the tiles!!
