Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 15, 2010 3:35 pm I need some help and inspiration for the wall behind our sink in the kitcken. Because our kitchen will be in the middle of our house. When you stand at the sink you will be looking at a wall. I am trying to figure out what to do with it. The link below to my thread of our build has our plan and you will be able to see what I mean. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31280 The only idea we have come up with is tiling the wall, but with 9ft ceilings that would be VERY expensive, we want to have something else other than a blank wall, but we just don't know what. The only other idea we had was putting high cupboards so we had a spalshback there, but my husband is really tall and not too excited about cupboards above the sink Any ideas or pictures which might inspire us would be really appreciated Painting finished, time to tile! I see a lot of kitchens have that and you are then standing looking out into the open space of your house. If you look through the "show me your kitchen" thread I'm sure you will see what I mean Re: Help needed for kitchen wall behind sink 3Apr 15, 2010 11:13 pm Hi Rebecca, if that was my kitchen I'd have the hot plates where the sink is shown and move the sink around to overlook the dinning area as miss ticky suggested. You definitely need more area next to your hotplates. As it is now, the hotplate will be hard against the side of the refrigerator. If you move the HP to the wall where the sink is now then you'll have a good work space both side of it and can put some overhead cupboards and range hood above. I'd also say that your pantry is massive. In fact it is so big you could make it a scullery/wet kitchen and not have a sink or just a little single bowl in the main kitchen if you don't like mess being on show. Another option would be to remove the linen cupboards and just keep one linen door opening into the pantry area that I would then split in half to make a walk in linen cupboard on one side and pantry on the other. You'd still have a big pantry but would then have more storage in a walk in linen, plus it would make the study a little bigger by removing the existing area of linen cupboard and increasing the width of the study. I think that moving the sink to the front bench and the stove to the current sink position is the way to go. Painting finished, time to tile!
