I'm a bit confused by your comment on omitting (leaving out) cupboards without breaking the bank (by not having them you are instantly saving money, so omitting them should save rather than break the bank). Do you have a particular kitchen design that you want to know about? Any images or anything that you can share so that people know what you're after? As for unusual kitchen ideas, I think that ours has an unusual idea incorporated, certainly one that I haven't seen much of before and one that I think will go a long way towards ensuring excellent usability. We have a large walk-in pantry with cupboards on the wall adjoining the kitchen. We have included a big hole through the wall so that we can use the benchtop of this cupboard as an appliance shelf, where the appliances can easily be slid into the kitchen by way of the hole in the wall. The benchtop will be continued through the hole and to either side of the pantry wall to ensure ease of pulling or pushing appliances to the kitchen where they will be used or the pantry where they will be stored. There is a roller door between that can be opened for access or closed to hide the pantry and its contents, the appliance hole in the wall with the roller door open Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ with the roller door closed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I hope that this helps a little... Re: Unusual kitchen ideas 3Apr 07, 2010 5:34 pm the only thing I can think of at the moment would eb drawers instead of the cupboards but your looking at paying extra for that. I have also seen recently cupboard that have pull out plate holders somewhat the same as a dishrack which I thought was really nifty, you can also get drawers (like what I was saying above) that have building in racks somewhat like a dishwasher so you can stack your plates up and access anyone of them without having to pull the others off the top just to get to the bottom plate. I have also seen build in storage ideas for the pantry, which I think is well worth the money if you have the money (we were told around 1k for a basic one door pantry) Apart from all that I really dont know anything else.
