Do you know if they have a store in Victoria? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. I don't but I will give you the tip, if you like David Trubridge's stuff, order direct from NZ. Best price I could find in Oz for this pendant was $600. I got them sent over direct from NZ at less than $300 each (and that included shipping). I'll dig up the place we got them from. But i guess they are designer lights so that's why you are paying that price.... Thanks for the tip. [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 8Apr 07, 2010 11:45 am Hi, We went with these above our island. Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 9Apr 07, 2010 11:51 am benschke, 1. are the shades glass or some kind of "paper"( for want of a better description) ? 2. are the shades enclosed ie do they have a top & bottom to the drum to prevent bugs getting in? thanks Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 10Apr 07, 2010 12:18 pm It is hard isn't it! I have looked at so many pendant lights lately and still have no idea which ones we will use over our island bench. We have a raked ceiling so are limited a little with what will work. So far my first choice is 2 or 3 white warehouse pendants from http://www.designerlights.com.au/products.php. I just dont really like the slim white glass pendants that I keep seeing, and having light in a kitchen and over the sink means that the materials used have to be taken into account. Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 11Apr 07, 2010 12:38 pm Southies benschke, 1. are the shades glass or some kind of "paper"( for want of a better description) ? 2. are the shades enclosed ie do they have a top & bottom to the drum to prevent bugs getting in? thanks Hi Southies, They are a "fabric type" of material. As per the description they are textured. On the 4 light pendants there are no covers top or bottom. There is a bottom cover on the drum pendant. Hope this helps??? Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 13Apr 15, 2010 2:04 pm Thanks benschke for the links, i think i would prefer the pendants to be separate to each other (installed individually?). Having said that, i think the ones you have chosen are gorgeous. robbo3, definitely hard to find what i am after for the island bench.. thought most of the light suppliers would have a big range of them as they are very popular but most of them only had a few. I agree with the choice of material, glass is probably the better option in a kitchen. I am after something like this but in a slightly lighter colour. The one in the picture has a round metal around the hanging wire on the ceiling, i would prefer it without it or with a smaller one: http://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww138/dreamhome_photo/TubePendant.jpg Above picture shows Tube Pendant from http://www.designerlights.com.au/products.php Anyone has seen them around? Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 17Apr 16, 2010 7:33 am Bubble Melrich - Can you post a pic of the swish lights in your kitchen. They are beautiful. Be happy to but the kitchen is not finished and pendants won't go up for another 2-3 weeks. Here is the link to the NZ shop we bought them from, http://www.houseofaroha.com/index.php/a ... dge-design They were very good and with the NZ dollar at the moment very cheap for what they are. Just be aware the these pendants are quite big (even the small size which we got). I'll post some photos of our kitchen when it is finished. Re: Show us your lights hanging over your kitchen island ple 18Apr 16, 2010 10:55 am I am still looking as DH doesnt like the warehouse pendants I liked. I think I will end up with nickel/brushed/satin chrome with white glass. I also don't want polished chrome. I saw the batista light from Eglo and have had the local light shop order it in so I can see it in real life - it has white glass with texture and brushed finsh to the sliver parts. I want 3 separate pendants. edited to add link to light: http://www.eglo.com/index.php/internati ... /BATISTA-1 Levelling compound Ardit is the best but buy a bag of sand and make sand dam to protect your wood floor 2 15257 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you going to have the frame exposed or are you cladding it with something.
