Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 28, 2010 4:16 pm What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone diamond gloss benchtops? Anyone have any pics of pure mineral stone DG on their benches to put up....and is it overall 'white-ish'?....or more cream? Have dark jarrah timber cupboards and white carrara polished porcelain floors...with greyey/blue walls. Was thinking white tiles for the splashback......but not sure if they'll look too white against the mineral stone. Anyone have any hints? Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 2Mar 28, 2010 5:19 pm If you are in Sydney, you can see an example of this benchtop in Kitchen Connections showroom in Alexandria. I've just been there a few days ago and I think that is exactly the colour they have on display, it looks stunning, real white, no trace of cream in it. I will definitely go with DG myself. White tiles should loook good, but it has to be the same "white" Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 3Mar 28, 2010 7:06 pm Ooooh thanks Morgaine....was getting a little worried!! Not in Sydeney...Ballarat....but we do have a showroom...and I need to go back and look at it again on display...I changed my mind from Creastyle to DG mineralstone and picked it from a sample. Too late now..the cabinet maker has done the template and already ordered it!! If it's more 'whitish' than cream it will be ok. Thanks Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 4Mar 28, 2010 9:28 pm Hi Notsubtle, I've got the Pure Minerstone DiamondGloss benchtop and it is definitely quite 'white' with specks of grey. No cream tones at all. It will look great with your white polished porcelain floors. A white tiled splashback will match it well. I originally was going to have gloss white tiles.... but changed my mind at the last minute to a stainless-steel tiled splashback. Not to everyone's taste, but I changed because I thought my house was starting to look a bit too white and needed something a bit "different". My kitchen cabinets are a mix of Laminex Polar White and Laminex Licorice Linea. Here's a couple of recent pics. They look a bit dark because they were taken at night... It looks 'whitey' and your kitchen is GORGEOUS! I am loving those stainless tiles!! Quick question...what is the mm of your benchtop? I think mine will be 33mm thick. Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 6Mar 29, 2010 1:47 pm hi, i've got pure mineralstone diamond gloss laminex in my pantry with ever so slightly off white (colour 'ice cream' from Beaumont) ceramic tiles as splashback and it looks fine IMO. here is a picture (this was before the grout went in, don't have a clear one of afterwards) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Thanks How many mm's is that edge?.....just to give me an idea. Yours looks about the thickness I want. My builder/carpenter guy said mine will be square edge 33mm - so hope it's thick enough. Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 8Mar 29, 2010 2:18 pm yep I'm pretty sure its 33mm too. I remember it wasn't quite the same thickness of my caesarstone which is 40mm, but close. We have used Ceasarstine but it in the white/grey range. The splashback tiles we have used worl spectacularly. They are mosaic stainless steel/nickel and glass bullets. They pick up all the greys and whites and will work even better if you are using stainless steel appliances. The only problem is they are expensive at about $700m2 but usually it is no more than the cost of a glass splashbak. Have a look a them if you can. Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 11Apr 01, 2010 11:34 am Thanks Melrich..are they the same as pharley's stainless steel tiles?
I'm glad you guys are referring to colours of whites and greys when referring to the mineral stone ...because that's exactly the 'look', 'colours' I am hoping the mineral stone gives off. I've picked up some white ( not too stark but a little on the 'grey' side of white) 100 x 100 squares with a ripple effect. Hoping to do a feature with some on the diagonal just above the 900mm gas cooktop.....as glass cabinets above have a diamond lead light type pattern. Sort of like this is what I intend... No, nothing like it....LOL. Here is a picture of "bullet" tiles. Ours are glass, stainless and nickel but color is not dissimilar to the "grey" glass mosaic in this link, http://www.osborneceramics.com.au/image/tid/50 Re: What colour tiles did you put with pure mineral stone di 14Apr 01, 2010 12:52 pm Quote: I really like those .... I bet it looks fab!! Well the ones in that link are all glass but the bullet style is the same. Ours are actually 3 types of bullet on the one sheet, an actual stainless steel, an actual nickel and a clear glass. It does look spectacular and was selected to be the feature of the kitchen, the rest of which is handle less, white and pretty stark. Are you in Melbourne?
