Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 28, 2010 3:07 pm Hi everyone - me and hubby have our colour selections coming up, we are thinking of a two tone kitchen, i have noticed some people have dark up the top with light down the bottom and some others visa versa. I was wondering if people could post some pics of their two tone kitchens and let me know why they chose the dark up the top or bottom....just hoping to get some inspiration My hubby likes a dark grey colour as our dark, but i like a dark chocolatey colour... so i need quite a few pics to get my head around it all - its soo confusing! lol Building The Rio by Aaron J Homes Land Settles Late April 2010 Deposit paid to Aaron J Homes 24th March 2010 Homeone Forum Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32350 Our Blog : http://lynznjaybuildingtherio.blogspot.com/ Re: Two tone kitchen 3Mar 29, 2010 11:30 am Re: Two tone kitchen 4Mar 29, 2010 1:29 pm I chose Wenge for the base and stipple hemp for the top cupboards. In the luandry I've gone for ebony massacar and oyster linea on top. No pics yet - haven't started building! It's a personal choice whether you place the darker colour on top or bottom, although some interior designers have told me that dark colours should start at the bottom and go lighter as we look up... meh - I just think whatever you like. Have a look at lots of display home websites, many of them use two colours in their kitchens and laundry...and a few people here have too...have a trawl through the kitchen thread for some great ideas... My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. Thankfully there are always Tim Tams Re: Two tone kitchen 5Mar 29, 2010 4:06 pm The reason why I chose dark for the top is because we are having almost black laminate timber flooring and white walls - I thought having ALL of the dark on the bottom may look too much like a contrast i.e the room split in two with the bottom all dark and then the top all light... So I thought having it the other way may balance it a bit more... It has taken forever to come with a final decision and even now after we have had our colour selection appointment (but before our tender appt) I want to change it!!! (same set up but instead of the wood grain laminex go for the plain colours but in gloss!!!) And do you have a closeup photo of the benchtop and splashback? I have very similar cupboards (Polyrey Toraja - almost went with Formica Chocolate Pear!) and I have diamond gloss toffee mineralstone benchtop with pumice (beige) coloured overheads. I am so stumped on my splashback and it's been MONTHS!! Re: Two tone kitchen 8Mar 30, 2010 7:35 am The benchtop is Laminex Quicksand, I will see if I can take a photo of the bench and splashback for you tonight. The splashback is white tiles, not flat, not sure what it is called, but it reflects light differently. Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation.
