Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 24, 2010 8:37 pm Hi All My wife and I are in the process of looking for a new kitchen in our new house. How many quotes do you think we should get? We currently have 3 organised: DK Kitchens Collaroy Kitchens Kitchen Connection We are thinking of getting at least 5 quotes to compare. We currently live in Sydney's Northern beaches and generally have very little knowledge about renovations in general. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Re: How many quotes and who did you use? 2Mar 25, 2010 1:10 pm I spoke to 3 companies and had them do minor designs and pricings for us. I spoke to each of them in quite a lot of depth to get a feel - we ended up going with the third one interviewed. Just remember to ask for the same things with each - then you can compare apples with apples. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: How many quotes and who did you use? 3Mar 25, 2010 1:59 pm We're not quite up to the kitchen bit yet, but have done a little research and are on the north shore. DK kitchens look stunning. If your quotes do come in expensive, apparently you can get the same quality of kitchen (eg as DK), with all the features (soft close drawers etc) by using a joinery company. They organise the caesarstone/whatever bench. Our architect is recommending us some but I don't have the details yet (can pm you if you're interested when I get them). Other friends who live nearby have used companies further afield in Sydney as they are (apparently) significantly cheaper - and they both have absolutely beautiful kitchens with high quality joinery - Elba kitchens, Fifth Avenue kitchens - don't have the details so google them. Plasterboard Gyprock is very popular as a reveal liner these days. You need to provide a way of supporting it, we use a modified timber reveal or bracket.
