I have heard that Bunnings aren't that great but apparently there are good ones available. I would have a builder install. I am in Newcastle but willing to source from Sydney. Ta. is that Flatpack Kitchens or flat pack kitchens Re: Flatpacks 3Feb 26, 2010 10:19 am Or Flatpax even... There are very good unassembled kitchens available that bear little resemblance in quality of materials or manufacture to the off the shelf product available at volume sellers such as Bunnings. A good custom made unassembled kitchen would be available in your area or be deliverable to you. Correctly installed there is no distinguishing a properly made unassembled kitchen from one fabricated and fitted by a cabinetmaker because they are essentially the same product. Cheers, Earl Re: Flatpacks 4Mar 18, 2010 10:46 am Hi all,
I am just bumping this up as i am now considering trying to cobble together 'flat pack' doors and some extra 'flat pack' cabinets after seeing a few quotes. We have been quoted 8000 - 9000 for a cabinet maker to change over the doors and add 5 new cabinets!!! Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with the multitude of flat pack companies available? Was it easy to do the install? Were the filler or end pieces difficult to plan for? Thanks to all in advance, Tim Re: Flatpacks 5Mar 18, 2010 11:59 am WE are in the same boat. I don't mind white kitchens but I mind peeling surfaces dents and crumbling chipboard. Which flat packs are top quality and made in Australia (not in China)? We could by the handles elsewhere but the hinges must be of a good quality. It's maybe really cheaper buying the kitchen white and painting the wall in red green or whatever. If you sell your house of you don't want to look at the colour anymore you can change it. I personally don't like wood doors at the front and chipboard behind, either or - but that's just me. Re: Flatpacks 6Mar 18, 2010 6:13 pm tcross, I have dealt with and am continuing to deal with Plyboard Industries at Dandenong. Could not be more accommodating and at very competitive prices. Their point of difference is that if you want a cupboard of non standard width and or height then they will cut it for you. Thus if you want a cupboard at 455mm width or 718mm then that is what you can have and so on with all the other dimensions. When you go through the design process with them it is fascinating to see your panels laid out over the sheet template so you know immediately how efficient the design process is. And any finish and what ever brand of finish is available. Enough said otherwise I shall be accused of spruiking for them.
