Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 04, 2010 9:57 am Hello... We got our builder to quote some benchtop upgrades for us. He has given us the quote and now we are wondering which one is the most value for money ? Option 1: Provide 40mm Caesarstone benchtop to kitchen in lieu of standard 20mm Caesarstone. Excludes waterfall edge : $1740 Option 2: Provide 20mm waterfall edge to kitchen benchtop in lieu of standard(only one side, second side connects to wall) : $965 Option 3: Leave it as 20mm and then get a wooden servery installed after handover : No quote yet Which of these do you guys think looks the best ? (and better value for money....?) I wish I could have got all 3 but all too expensive ! Not sure what they mean by 40 mm benchtop, if the whole thickness will be 40 mm or only the edges..... Re: Caesarstone upgrades..which option to choose? 4Feb 04, 2010 8:33 pm Yes, it's only 40mm on the edges. DO you like the waterfall look ? Some people don't. I think it makes a place look a million dollars better when used in the right situation. Personally I would try and get option 1 & 2, as 3 can be done later. If I could only choose one, then option 1, but that's only because I prefer the 40mm look over 20mm Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: Caesarstone upgrades..which option to choose? 5Feb 04, 2010 8:38 pm 40mm looks fab. I was thinking of the 20mm cost wise. I looked at our plans a while ago for the island....I was in tears for days until it was changed to waterfall edges, but that's what we had been requesting all along. We are getting 40mm. I've seen 60mm in a display and it looks awesome but hate to think how much it would cost for our kitchen. Re: Caesarstone upgrades..which option to choose? 6Feb 04, 2010 9:07 pm I agree go the 40mm my SIL has this and it looks fantastic Re: Caesarstone upgrades..which option to choose? 7Feb 05, 2010 9:51 am Def the 40mm is worth it, the extra width just lifts the look of the kitchen, I am one of the few that not a fan of waterfall ends but it can look great when used in the right kitchen layout. Price wise we where only quoted $900 for 2 waterfall ends in ceasarstone with the width of the bench 1200mm. 40mm was standard for the bench top. I think I will need to convince my DH to get both suh - Only the island part. (actually it isn't a proper island coz we amended the plans so that one end joins to the wall. so now our kitchen is rectangular U shaped. Re: Caesarstone upgrades..which option to choose? 11Feb 05, 2010 11:57 am I have never seen 40mm without waterfall, can someone pls post a picture if they have one?
