Please show me your laminate benchtopped kitchens :)

Does anyone have a picture of a dark coloured laminated benchtop, like speckled black or something?
I would like to see what they look like?
vid, I'm very much in love with your benchtop! If my kitchen colours had gone a different way (ie. white cupboards opposed to chocolate brown), I would have chosen stipple cocoa or stipple seal over my toffee mineralstone! What edge do you have out of curiosity? Looks nice... oh how I wish I could do my kitchen over again, and it's only just gone in!

I think they just call it a "laminated edge", we first saw it at the laminex showroom.
vid, if you don't mind me asking, what colour/paint are your walls?

We are looking at Rock Salt for our kitchen cupboards too, so it's helpful to see your pics to visualise it in our space.

I didn't want granite or stone in my kitchen
(wanted cupboards same colour as tops) so I went Laminex Charcoal all the way with 15cm thick tops:

That is one great looking kitchen - mag worthy
Hi there, here is ours, Diamond gloss laminate in Stipple Seal with diamond gloss edging. We had been debating laminate vs stone for ages.

Several people have mistaken it for stone - even friends who have recently renovated with c/stone themselves! We're very happy with it.

Hi Rae,
Our paint colour is Wattyl Bikram, I have an idea that it is now a discontinued colour but there would be another that is probably the same with a different name.

Hi newby126,
When I looked at your images I thought part of it was our kitchen, we have the same colour benchtop and the stove looks almost identical as well, I think we even have the same tea towel!

has your stove got the wok burner in the middle?
Hi Vid,
OMG that benchtop looks awesome. How do you find it for scratches and cleaning? We are planning our kitchen at the moment and unfortunatley stone is out of the budget.
Hi Vid, great minds think alike! Yes, the stove does have the wok burner in the middle - its a Smeg - LOVE IT.

Stone was way over our price too, so far (6 months in) it's okay for scratches and for cleaning we just us a damp microfibre glass cloth and it is great!

Our wok burner is on the left (as you look at it) but the rest looks the same (6 burners) the amount you can fit in the oven is fantastic!
We did our son's new kitchen with Diamond Gloss Starlight.....

Wow so glad found this thread! Hubby and I are in the process of renovating a 1970's house that we have just bought. We move in on Saturday and we have no kitchen or laundry aarrrrgggghhhhh!!!

We have chosen our kitchen cabinets etc but we still need to choose benchtops. We are looking at doing the diamond gloss laminate as well. We had our heart set on stone but then found out our entire plumbing needed to be redone in the house so the budget for the benchtop has shrunk considerably

Did any of you have the benchtop made and install it yourself? If so was it hard to do?

Its not an easy job but if your handy and can use an electric plane then you could easily do it yourself.

I did it in our laundry and kitchen.

Dont get the people making it to cut sink holes etc out, you want to do that on site.

It's pretty easy to be honest.

I didnt use a plane though? A decent jigsaw is a must though.

If your walls are out of square or are not straight then a power plane is a must. Its how the tradies do it.

I also use a cordless circular saw for the sink/cooktop cut outs. So much better than a jigsaw but probably not for DIY!
This is one of ours. Diamond Gloss pure mineralstone.

And another investment property pure mineralstone but plain finish.

Not bad for cheap kitchens.
Hi,

This is a before and after photo of our renovated kitchen, done about 2.5yrs ago.

We are doing heaps of hybrid at the moment and the cost sits between $60-65/sqm including installation. Stairs are around $90-100 each
