Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 27, 2010 4:28 pm My husband wants white gloss doors on kitchen cabinets and I'm trying to decide whether to go for a Laminex - Lunar Stone (or similar neutral colour) or perhaps use a Caeserstone - maybe Latte. Has anyone used laminex benchtops with gloss doors - do they go together okay? We want a light kitchen as no windows (but will have skylight), keeping to neutral tones but not to clinical and cold. Any photos and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Re: Gloss Doors and Laminate Benchtops - anyone used this combo? 2Jan 31, 2010 9:57 am I used 2 pac gloss cupboards and laminate bench top in my kitchen laundry and bathrooms, I think it looks good and hard wearing and practical, and a lot cheaper than ceasar stone My only concern would be if it would stain easily, as laminate is very forgiving. If I build again I may go the ceasar stone if funds allow, I will definately stick to the gloss cupboards again and maybe in white. This was the kitchen in the house we rented, which had white gloss cabinets and a laminate benchtop. Can't tell you the colours or finishes, but I guarantee they'd have been all standard builder's range stuff...you don't upgrade to anything fancy in a place you're going to rent out.... Can you remember what colour your laminate is and splashback colour. Is your laminate a standard or diamond gloss? I've heard diamond gloss will show up scratches alot so although it looks lovely to start with I'm reluctant to get it (others will be using our holiday house). Also, are your ceiling standard height or 9' ceilings? Cupboards look great. Thanks for your reply Kek, thanks for posting that photo, now I know laminate and gloss cupboards look good together. Appreciate your reply. Re: Gloss Doors and Laminate Benchtops - anyone used this combo? 5Feb 01, 2010 7:04 am SharonC Thanks Taffy & Kek Taffy, you kitchen looks lovely. Appreciate your reply. Hi Thanks for the compliment. The ceilings are 8'6 The cupboards are wilsonart wallaby and the benchtop is laminex coco nougat. The splashback is actually polished porcelain tiles the same that is on the floor 600x600. I have used them everywhere on floors and walls in all the wet areas and living areas. We had a white gloss laminate for the cupboards and a glossy laminate benchtop. It looks really nice. The only thing is that the benchtop can be streaky depending on what you use to clean it, but other than that, I loved it. Hope this helps you a little bit!
