Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 19, 2010 8:57 pm Hi we are renovating our home and I am after a kitchen company/person who will also help with the design and not charge me a forturne.
I have called a few and they charge $$$ to come out and quote & design. I am inner city Melbourne. The home is a terrace approx 5.5 meters wide and the area for the kitchen can be 5- 6 mtr long. Here is pic of plan. http://s736.photobucket.com/albums/xx8/ ... itchen.jpg The kitchen on the plan has been changed and now will be on the oposite side. There is a door on that side that leads into the courtyard however this door can be closed or made into a window to sit at bench height. I have even thought about closing it up so the wall lenght will be 1.5 meters and continue the kitchen along that wall. The windows in the meals area be made in to doors to open into the courtyard. I need to know the layout as the services, ie plumbing, gas, power need to be bought into the property. Any ideas please!!!! Thanks Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 2Jan 20, 2010 8:21 pm I paid $700 for Complete Kitchens in Camberwell to draw up plans for me (they didn't come out though as I live in the country) ... was a couple of years ago, but they money came off the final cost of the kitchen if you went with them (I didn't - because I live in the country!) ... I'm really really happy with my kitchen!!! Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 3Jan 20, 2010 9:08 pm Impala and Freedom both came to my house and design and quoted for free. Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 5Jan 20, 2010 9:50 pm We used Freedom Kitchens. We live in the country so they couldn't come out, but we took in heaps of photo's and the floorplan of the room. They did a great job, I would use them again. The company that supplies Freedom Kitchens is called installex.com.au if you want to check them out directly. They do free quotes too I believe. Good luck! Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 6Jan 20, 2010 9:59 pm Bubble little buddy - I thought Impala charged a fee, good to know they don't. I will contact them to get ideas for a design. Thanks Hi Bubble - Just be aware that (from my experience) some of the larger kitchen companies use a very high pressure selling technique. I found you cannot just ring up for an appointment, you have to go into their showroom first "to make sure you know what you want" (Translation: so that a salesperson can try to hard sell you). Then when the designer comes out to your home, they will offer you a "one off fabulous deal" and really really pressure you to sign up on the day, or lose the fabulous deal. Then, if you don't sign up, they will ring you incessantly afterwards until you tell them you have gone with someone else and had the kitchen installed, which finally gets them off your back . No doubt they can give you some good ideas, if that is what you are looking for, they are good at their job - as long as you are prepared to put up with the other guff that goes along with it. Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 8Jan 21, 2010 9:02 am Don't leave Plyboard Distributors off your list to check out for a kitchen layout. They are out at Dandenong - family company and easy to deal with. cheers Re: I Need a Melbourne Kitchen company - kitchen design help 9Jan 21, 2010 8:21 pm Freedom came to our house twice (6 hours worth of consultation) to create a design we liked and that was before we had even committed to using them. The second visit was to tweak, not because there was anything wrong with the first design. Can't fault their design service. Ask for Eugene in Melbourne. Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13769 Our Bondi Greenwall was impressive from day one with advanced lush plants to provide a wow factor to this recently renovated living area.
