Hi,
We have put down ICE SNOW in our new kitchen. Its 20mm think. Looking at it now I don't really like the thickness. Is it possible to retro -fit an apron around it to make it look thicker???
Thanks for your input

Thanks for your input Re: Caesarstone add on 2Jul 28, 2007 12:02 pm you could have 2 x 20mm slabs together for 40mm.
Or opt for the 30mm option Re: Caesarstone add on 3Jul 28, 2007 4:35 pm Hi Matt,
The c'stone is actually already installed. I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can "add" an apron around the outside to give the illusion of a thicker piece. Hope that makes sense Re: Caesarstone add on 4Jul 28, 2007 5:40 pm They fit an extra piece on the edge to get the thickness. Problem with retrofitting is that it is likely you have a chamfered or rounded edge on the bottom. This would spoil the join. Also you would need to lift the top to clear drawers and cupboards - not easy if it's against tiles. If I write "I" please read "We"! Be good. Re: Caesarstone add on 6Jul 28, 2007 5:46 pm On second thoughts - if you are happy with the mess of refitting then your supplier can make it thicker. He can refinish the edge to make it flat and fit an extra piece. Get a couple of quotes, the cost may put you off.

As Ed said the bench top can be removed and a 20mm thickening strip added to the front and back underneath. This will be costly. Have the splash backs been installed, if so then this will cause a huge problem. There is another option. Its not as good as the above option, but would be quicker and less time consuming depending on the edge treatment on the BT. You could drop/ lower or cut the top of the doors down by the thickness you intend to add. Then without removing the benchtop add a strip under the front edge. They can fill any small gaps created by an existing edge treatment with the same colour and then polish it up to give you 30 or 40mm think edge. Re: Caesarstone add on 8Jul 29, 2007 6:58 pm One more thing, don't forget that your benchtop will also be 20mm higher, make sure your partner or whoever will be the main user is comfortable with it... Most old kitchens are 900mm high. If you add 20mm to that it wont make much difference at all. Especially when you consider todays kitchens are anywhere from 890mm - 1000mm high. Re: Caesarstone add on 10Jul 29, 2007 8:10 pm Its a brand new house so not sure what impact it would have on heights etc.
I'm only really concerned with the island bench and then really with the side you look into ie. where the stools go. I might get some quotes but I guess I will get used to it. go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110572 The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
