Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 07, 2010 5:02 pm Hi All Thanks to this forum, I've read so much great advice. Its crunch time as I decide on my kitchen colours - so help needed! I have decided on white cabinets (the doors are shaker style) and stainless steel appliances. The paint colour in the open plan area is Resene Half tea. (brown/grey neutral) Now need help with the bench top. We will be going a Laminex Diamond gloss. The bench top needs to work with our multicoloured slate floor. As the floor is quite busy, I'm thinking the benchtop should be fairly plain so as not to compete. The main feature of the kitchen will be the freestanding oven and canopy rangehood - we don't have an island bench to show off! I would prefer to bring out the greys in the slate, rather than the browns, but it so hard to get a good match! (maybe because everything matches depending on the slate tile you compare the laminex sample too!) Samples leading the charge include: Tunisian stone (could be too white, dare I say it, boring?) Stipple Seal (too safe?) Venetian marble - too dramatic/dark? Toffee mineralstone - matches quite well, but wondering if it will look like a cheap imitation of caesarstone? (no offence to those who have used it!) Are there other options I should be considering? Here are some photos to help: Floors Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Laminate Samples http://www.laminex.com.au/ The overall look we are trying to achieve is subtle french provincial - not too modern, but quite fresh and easy to live in. Thanks so much for your opinion! It's more elegant looking than any other colors. black - cabinets, counter sides, table, chairs, etc white - walls, tops, etc silver - appliances, kitchen utensils Re: Decision time - Kitchen colours, DESPERATELY need help pls! 5Jan 25, 2010 4:34 pm Hi All, I was hoping I could add my kitchen design here, but its proving too challenging! I am absolutely losing sleep over this bench top colour - so if you are a colour guru I am begging you for help. We are probably using a diamond gloss laminate - prefer a darkish grey. like Venetian Marble or Jordanstone - something to tie in with the slate floor (preferably not brown). We don't want an overly modern look. Hence the white shaker cabinetry. I saw a caesarstone sample today in Urban? Maybe that would look ok too? What would you pick? THANKS so much I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14306 9 24789 1 13121 |
