I don't really want to make this bigger as I don't have heaps of room to play with. - For the fridge that i like (http://www.fisherpaykel.com.au/product/ ... 2C2AD9E94D) The specs say if you want the bench flush with the refridgerator chassis allow a 620 deep space, if you want it flush with the front of the refridgerator door allow a 690 deep space So it sounds like the fridge chassis is ~ 590, door thickness is 70, space needed for ventilation behind fridge is 30 Would you have the bench, fridge cabinet and pantry cabinet all 600 deep, and just let the fridge stick out? It just seems like 90mm is a lot of sticking out. plus there is the handle on top of this. Or maybe the bench and fridge cabinet 600, but the pantry say 690 deep? Or maybe the bench 600, and the fridge and panty deeper? I don't mind some of the fridge sticking out, just wondering what other people have gone with. Thanks! Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 2Jan 04, 2010 8:31 pm Hi little buddy! I'm not the best with this, but how about swap the pantry and the fridge, keep the pantry 600mm in line with the bench, then it doesn't matter as much with the fridge sticking out? Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 3Jan 04, 2010 8:50 pm All I can say is, Well done you for thinking of this BEFORE the kitchen goes in !!! I didn't - I thought I had done enough by supplying the kitchen guys with my fridge specs (dimensions etc). I didn't realise they just do the fridge cavity to a standard depth unless you ask for it to be different. So, I am now a not-so-happy member of the Sticky-Out-Fridge-Club (see my kitchen thread viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18861&start=80). Not that I could have done it much differently given my kitchen space anyway, except buying a thinner fridge . There are a few threads in the kitchen section on fridge cavities, if you are interested and do a search. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20977&p=271690&hilit=+fridge+cavity#p271690 viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22126&p=290623&hilit=+fridge+cavity#p290623 viewtopic.php?f=16&t=24266&hilit=fridge+cavity Bel's idea sounds like a feasible suggestion though. Hope you can work out something that you are happy with . Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 4Jan 04, 2010 8:54 pm Hi little buddy, I had the same thought as Bel. A couple more advantages of having the fridge at the end: - if you get another fridge down the track you won't be limited by width - you can access the fridge without having to walk into the kitchen. at the moment you have to walk in the centre of the kitchen to open it But making the pantry deeper is also a pretty good solution if you didn't want to swap them. Thanks! the fridge should always be closest to the entry to the kitchen ,it is the most used appliance in the kitchen ,i would increase the depth of the fridge run of cabinets to be in line ,there are several ways around this ,1 increase all depths to suit ,2 simply pull the cabinets off the wall by the extra depth and have the bench top over the corner cabinet and any applied panels increased to match ,if this creates a problem with clearances within the kitchen decrease the depth of the breakfast bar cabinets to suit the increase of the fridge run Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 6Jan 05, 2010 9:43 am Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Doh! i should have searched properly for previous posts. I usually do too...not sure what I was thinking. Thanks for putting those past links in too. It was good to read through these. I'll have a play with switching the pantry and fridge around and draw up it up again. Helps me visualise it Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 7Jan 05, 2010 7:35 pm just thought i'd add the pic of the pantry and fridge switched around Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ i must admit i do like the look of the first option when the wall cabinets and pantry colour seem to "wrap" the kitchen. another bonus is from the lounge the visibility of the fridge is less too. But the first option is less practical in accessing the fridge, as people have wisely pointed out. Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 8Jan 06, 2010 10:09 pm My setup along the back wall is similar to the second pic, with the fridge at the end. My cupboards are 620 deep with the benchtop sitting out 20 so gives the total 640. My pantry is 645 and the fridge cavity next to it is 645. It all looks perfectly in line. It just gives that bit more depth for when i upgrade to a new fridge but even with 645 fridge depth, many modles will still stick out a bit. I did lots of research on every aspect when i was planning my kitchen and spent hours online and going to kitchen places for ideas. Good luck. Perhaps you could put a wine rack, or a slim bookcase facing the entry next to the fridge, and then the fridge will have that wrapped look you like, while still being easy to access? it looks like there is a bit of extra room there. Even just a side pannel will make it look 'wrapped'. I absolutly agree with the other suggestions, you will want the fridge easily accessible by people looking for a drink when you are cooking without them coming right into the kitchen! One kitchen place we went to said you need an end panels or cupboards either side of you fridge cavity to hold up the wall cabinets. This seems a bit strange to me - why can't the cabinets ust hang off the wall? Anyhow, I'm going with your second design: fridge, pantry, bench. The fridge is going to stick out by whatever it is, I'm keeping everything else at 600mm. The fridge is kinda out of the kitchen isle, so the sticking out isn't as awkward as if it was swapped with the pantry. But if I had space to have deeper benches then I'd have the fridge next to the bench because I often have to reshuffle things in the fridge and it's much more convenient to have the bench right next to the fridge: "landing space". Re: How would you line up the bench, fridge and pantry? 12Jan 19, 2010 5:42 pm another thing to consider is how much room is left when the door is open. If flush with the units the door will open just over 90 this dimension is 1318 which going by you drawing only leaves about 300mm to get past. Might be annoying when someones in the fridge and you want to get to the pantry I would consider having the fridge at the end. Do you know the actual width as when looked at specs it had 2 different widths and the 1318 was based off the smaller size (680) it said 780 in the box to the right ,this would even less room This is the current bathroom with a european laundry.
