Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Change from Gas to Induction Cooktop 22Feb 25, 2010 9:37 pm sorry for late reply - it isn't the one with the crosses - it has four zones - one large, 2 medium and 1 small. I found even though my large frypan is bigger than the circle, it still heats up well - and it is soo responsive - if something is boiling you turn it down and instantly it stops. Very happy with my purchase. Re: Change from Gas to Induction Cooktop 23Mar 01, 2010 12:42 am Impatient Just thought i'd give an update - used my Electrolux induction cooktop tonight for the first time - sooooo fast. i was boiling some potatoes and they came to the boil in no time at all. I was heating up a frypan to cook rissoles, and it previously took ages, I nearly had a fire in my new kitchen, the oil started smoking - I wasn't used to how quick it heated up! It made a slight clicking noise when it first started up, but I think it was just the saucepan heating up - the noise didn't last for long. There really wasn't any other noticeable or annoying noise. The bevelled edges seem fine - not too thin, compared to the the rest. So far so good. I love the clean lines, no knobs, so easy to keep clean. I can recommend to anyone! Glad to hear how happy you are with it. I've been hoping to get an induction cook top for years - and I'll have it in the next week or so. Re: Change from Gas to Induction Cooktop 24Mar 01, 2010 12:44 am leni Also what considerations are there? For example I know I will need power there, and I guess get the gas connection cut off somehow? For whatever reason, our builder put in a gas line, even though it had been deleted from the contract. It is simply terminated where it comes out of the wall. Perhaps I should install that 100+ MJ wok burner that is supposed to sound like a jet engine! Re: Change from Gas to Induction Cooktop 25Mar 01, 2010 12:47 am cyberman A salesman I spoke to suggested most people will never use more than 3 zones. I don't think I've ever used more than 2 zones. I almost always use 3 zones, sometimes 4 when cooking. I guess it depends on your own cooking style. Re: Change from Gas to Induction Cooktop 26Mar 01, 2010 12:49 am No one has mentioned Teka induction cooktops yet. My wife fell in love with the boomerang shape of them, and we have been using such a cramped gas cooktop that this or the big Miele were top of our list. We have a few large pots that are very difficult to use simultaneously on our little gas cooktop. So looking forward to having four post in a semicircle in front of me with space between them. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
