Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 29, 2009 3:38 pm Hi all, I have asked that i have two 'slab ends' or waterfall edges on my island bench. I wanted these because on the back of my island i am having half as drawers so thought it would look better if i had the ends to keep it all looking tidy. Now the problem arises that as standard the company i am building with use 'laminted 33mm thick 10-10 radius double roll postform' benchtops. The cost to upgrade to 39mm thick squareform is $820 which i would rather spend upgrading the bricks. Could they put waterfall edges on a postform benchtop? Would it look ridiculous? I just think that the upgrade price is ridiculous although in general i like the look of squareform better, in some ways i think the postform will look better as i am having a white benchtop and this way you wont see any joins? Mmmmm anyway just looking for opinions or of course pics if anyone has them. V Re: Waterfall ends with postform benchtop - help please 2Dec 29, 2009 9:12 pm I remembered seeing a lovely waterfall end squareform benchtop in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21886&p=292732&hilit=squareform#p292732 It belongs to Southies (on page 1), good closeup photo of the mitred join. Looks great. If you are choosing a light colour, I'm not sure if the mitred join would stand out more. Southies mitred joins are a perfect job. Was this what you had in mind? Re: Waterfall ends with postform benchtop - help please 3Dec 30, 2009 8:51 am Thanks for that!! Yep that is what i wanted but thats what i have to pay $820 to get! But it looks so nice! It has also confused me even more because i absolutely love the kitchen southies has and the dark benchtop. Argggg so over it at the moment lol. V Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly. Silicone is the wrong product to fill them… 2 12912 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7142 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12718 |
