Thats crazy! He is indeed - hes been very helpful! (understatement!) specially because this is my first house and there are so many things i dont know and wouldnt think of! I think ill have to get him a bottle of something when its all done, just to say thankyou. GettingThere, I would gather a waterfall edge would increase the strenght of the benchtop, but think laminate is pretty strong stuff even without a waterfall. I guess stone may crack and eventaully snap because there is not much give in the substance. For the support I mean... If you're worried about the strength of the overhang (which you shouldn't), one of the kitchens I saw at Bunnings had these chrome posts underneath at either end of their island bench. Looked pretty cool. Some may like them, some may not. We tried sneaking into our conversation what wine he liked and he fully came out saying that he didn't want anything lol. That doesn't make it easy but we're going to try and get something really good for him. I see you are having a dishwasher...well you could have 1 and 1/3 or 1 and 1/2 sink and move it closer to your dishwasher and this should give you heaps more bench space. If you cook a lot you definitely need to consider this. CHeers, Carolyn Carolyn Re: Kitchen benchtop overhang 27Feb 02, 2010 6:27 pm Hi Caromac, The picture i posted was before the dishwasher recess was drawn in, the draws are up the end and he dishwasher (or bin place untill i get a d/w) is under the sink. The potdraw/microwave is in between the draws, if that makes sense. Im still waiting for a final draw up of how it will look and will post it once ive got it. Passed inspection. 13 7822 Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 3804 Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly. Silicone is the wrong product to fill them… 2 12926 |
