They quoted us $350 for one drawer (blum soft closers). We will be having 12 drawers in the kitchen so the price was ridiculous. We renovated a kitchen 3 years ago and it cost approx $90 for one drawer back then. I decided to ring around some kitchen companies and found 2 that would come in after handover to install soft closers for approx $150 per drawer. They will use the drawer fronts but build new boxes with the soft close mechanism. So we have decided to wait and see if we still want the soft closers after handover and if yes get one of the kitchen places to do it. They said it could be measured up and built in a week. It would take one day to install. Have also heard that ikea sell some, not sure how they are fitted though. Hope this helps, PM me if you would like any further info. Re: Soft close hinges/rails..do you know how much + our colours 4Dec 17, 2009 6:50 am Ikea have these drawer dampers... $10 for a pack of two. Not sure it only works on their drawers though. http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/60108677 Re: Soft close hinges/rails..do you know how much + our colours 5Dec 17, 2009 8:10 am Shelby, I don't think the prices you stated have changed an awful lot. We were told about $100/drawer for the Blum soft closing hinges. Alot of money for a simple device in my opinion. Instead we are still getting soft close drawers but for 1/4 the cost and not paying for the Blum name. Re: Soft close hinges/rails..do you know how much + our colours 6Dec 17, 2009 1:17 pm Actually.. I had asked this to a salesperson at a kitchen showroom ..and she has said that I could probably buy some those special hinges from EBay. Not sure if there are any specific sizes etc are not ... I have the blum hinges and would happily spend $6 per hinge for soft closing. I was going to but little rubber stick on things behind every door to stop the noise when closing. I got soft close draws but when the doors close, the bang they make closing just seems to sound cheap! Probably is given the crap I've had to fix from my idiot cabinet maker... My hinges don't look like any of the ones there, but they are blum ones. The hook on the front and then clip in at the back if that makes sense. I'll bring one of my hinges along with me since I already have a few doors off. Yes, I had already tried searching those. In the end I am fabricating my own. 4 4158 I've dug some footings to embed a post anchor into. My holes are around 450mm deep which I'll put a 200mm stirrup into. The bottom of these holes seem firm enough. … 0 3302 Surrey Hills, Vic 3127 Garage is being built with metal, 3m distance away from my cover deck.
