Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 11, 2009 3:26 pm I'm just wondering what sort of budget I could manage to get away with for a 3m x 3.2m U shaped kitchen if I install it all myself? I just got a quote for what I thought were fairly basic options @ nearly $14k! That was obviously full install, but it was only laminex benches, no soft close on the drawers etc, no plumbing or electrical or appliances. Re: Budget 3Dec 11, 2009 3:38 pm Bam Get another quote Did that include all electrical, plumbing etc? Yeh I'm getting one from an apparently good place, we went into their store and selected lots of options etc. and gave them our sketch from SketchUp That $13+k quote was from a friend of a friend! And no it included no plumbing or electrical, although it did include a sink. But surely the labor component of that couldn't be more than a week?? At what, $350 a day? BTW here's my initial sketch: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've since changed my preferences to put the fridge and pantry together at the end of the top side of the U Re: Budget 4Dec 17, 2009 10:13 pm I was a bit stupid in not researching this enough earlier :/ I went and pulled out our old kitchen before doing so and now have to put it back (in some form) until we save up enough for the proper kitchen Turns out that quote for 13+k was actually a pretty good price considering what it included. Re: Budget 5Dec 18, 2009 5:31 am Hi...have you looked at flat pack kitchens? I see quite a few have put them in. I know nothing about all that...yet, as we haven't done a new kitchen but would be looking at going that way when we do. I believe they are a cheaper option, while still looking just as good, but I don't know what they can cost. Someone else on here might be able to help you there Re: Budget 6Dec 18, 2009 9:59 am miss_ticky2 Hi...have you looked at flat pack kitchens? I see quite a few have put them in. Someone else on here might be able to help you there The size we wanted was nearly 6k from K&D/Mitre10 and that's without sinks taps or mixers :/ Bunnings minimum was 3k without benches as well but I think that was getting really pov and I'd rather wait instead of doing that Re: Budget 7Dec 18, 2009 11:29 am Some of the flat packs I've seen look really nice ... that's in pictures..I haven't seen any personally, apart from Bunnings. There's lots of companies around that do flatpacks. Some even custom make to your room measurements too, I believe. (These are all things I've picked up here ) Re: Budget 8Dec 18, 2009 11:53 am Hi, There is a detailed price list on this website that might give you an idea of flat pack pricing. http://www.smartpackkit.com.au/ I have been to their showroom and the quality is really good. They supplied all of the kitchens for that HomeMade TV show that was on earlier this year. They also have distributors nation wide.
