Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 11, 2009 11:44 am I'm looking for advice on undercabinet down lights...I have a kitchen newly installed and I'm trying to decide on the position/number of lights. On one side of the kitchen I have an 850mm cabinet with purpose built housing for the lights. The cabinet is wedged between 33cm 0pen shelves on one side and a pantry on the other side. I'm wondering if I should have 2 lights 40cm apart or just one light in the centre of the cabinet. The installer thinks one in the centre would look better. Re: cant decide on benchtop lights 2Dec 11, 2009 2:30 pm IMO lighting isnt just about what "looks good" What are you going to be using the bench space underneath for? Preparing etc? Re: cant decide on benchtop lights 5Dec 13, 2009 8:13 am In my humble opinion, it depends on the benchtop also, we created the lighting on ours to be both functional AND to showcase the benchtop and shiny bits in the benchtop material. ("shiny bits" is not the technical term). Just a thought, usually when in doubt, go with the installer recommended, they build hundreds of kitchens, and if they get it wrong, I'm sure they know about it ! Happy 2010 To Everyone !! Re: cant decide on benchtop lights 6Dec 13, 2009 11:20 am Thanks for your replies..I've got 'shiny bits' in the quartz starlight white that I'm hoping will catch the light nicely. I think if I move the lights closer together it will be brighter? I should have allowed for lighting under the open shelves but too late now.
