We are buying a nearly completed owner built house. The main builder from the family doing the subdivide and 2 house investment is a cabinet maker and as such he is doing all the kitchen and storage cabinets himself. We have asked him to use a router to cut a channel under the top row of kitchen cupboards so the electrician can install an LED strip. Can anyone please help with where the lights should be located. Are they right at the back against the splash back etc?
Any other comments about this type of lighting would be appreciated. Have others used an aluminium cover section? Has anyone just stuck the strips to the underside of the cupboards and left them exposed? What is the best lens to use on the cover strip if you have one? I have been told if you use a clear lens you can apparently see the reflection from the "Dots" of the lights on the SB and bench (this might not be a bad look anyway) whereas with an opaque lens it spreads the light more evenly. What would you recommend for Watts per mt. I have seen anything from 4 WPM to 14 WPM.
