Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 03, 2009 9:47 pm I was on the home stretch, looking to make the Xmas deadline easily but have had some issues with my kitchen. It's an ugly story with photos to boot but I'm not willing to discuss until the matter is resolved. The short of it is, I need to replace the panel backing onto my kitchen cabinetry. This panel runs the entire length of the kitchen and extends above the benchtop which will have a glass splashback attached. This panel needs to be a single sheet of 32 or 33mm HMR MDF sized 2865x1150mm. This needs to be sprayed in 2 pac high gloss white on one entire face of the sheet and then wrap around one end coming in about 100mm on the other face. ie sprayed 2865x1150, 32/33x1150 and 100x1150 if that makes sense. The colour doesn't have to be a 100% match as it will not butt up against any existing 2 pac panels. There will be slabs of stone or glass between them. I can bring one of the doors to get as close of a match as possible. I need this ASAP as I cannot complete my benchtops and subsequently order/measure the glass splashbacks. I have been told that I will not get my certificate of occupancy without the glass in place behind my freestanding cooker. Can anyone recommend or is anyone here from a company in the North Eastern Melbourne suburbs who can do this work for me ASAP? (Please don't suggest the original cabinet maker, it isn't an option) Re: Urgent: MDF panel in high gloss white 2pac (N-E Melb Subs) 2Dec 03, 2009 9:59 pm Hi Dave, Something a little out of left field. By any chance do you know anyone who works at a car bodyshop preferrably in the paintshop? Or have had repeat business with a local one? If you know any one who has access to and the skills for the paintshop within a bodyshop/smash repairer etc Given some ah 'hard currency' and you supply the mdf and 2pac which you should be able to match from any car paint supplier/retailer, The only real difficulty would be how much paint will be absorbed into the mdf and whether it would need any prior sealing so you don't have to spend tonnes of time sanding in between to good final surface. BTW i don't work for a bodyshop, but had a friend of a friend paint some metal panels up for me for a project a while back. Cash for the time, beer for the favour. Anywho just an option you may want to consider if you can't find a cabinet maker, spraying 2 pac especially to a high gloss with a good finish is really more of an art than a science, you can't go past good skills paired with the right equipment. Good luck with it. But then I'd have to find someone to spray it and I'd need a truck to transport it to/from spraying. I'm going to ring them tomorrow and ask if they can suggest any local businesses which could do the work. So really looking for a cabinet maker etc that can just do the job from scratch and deliver it if possible. I know it's gonna cost me but at this point, I really don't have a choice Re: Urgent: MDF panel in high gloss white 2pac (N-E Melb Subs) 4Dec 03, 2009 10:43 pm Instead of one sheet, why not have three pieces?? At least they will be more managable and cheaper too! Having a bar back panel in three can add more interest to the kitchen than one long plain panel. A kitchen place would probably do do it quicker also as they will not have to order such a huge sheet If you need a kitchen drawn up, post it on this thread - gotta give me a couple of days though:) viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26892 Probably a not bad thing to mention particle board should in case anyone else reading this got the two confused. 6 4854 Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom.
