Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 30, 2009 1:05 pm Hi all, Just wanted to share some pic's with you all as i'm excited about my new kitchen which went in last week. I have been lurking on here for a while and getting ideas and stealing hints for the kitchen, so here it is! There are a few things left to do such as, floor tiling, frosted glass doors installed, splashbacks (which i CANNOT decide on!!), brushed aluminium bulkhead to be fixed and stainless appliances to be fitted (fridge/freezer and dishwasher). Hopefully the below link will work for you (as i'm not great at this sort of thing) and i'll post some more updated pics late next week. Cheers http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a286/ ... novations/ Re: Kitchen photos 2Nov 30, 2009 1:34 pm Old kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ New kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There you go, now everyone can see them Old cupboards were certainly VERY blue I like your new kitchen, colours look similar to ours with the light kitchen cupboards (ours are fleece), timber looking floor andd benchtop looks similar - our is arcante rosso which is sort of a dark brown/red, bit like the ochre red of Aboriginal paintings. What sort of splashback are you haveing? oops, just re-read that you havent decided yet Re: Kitchen photos 3Nov 30, 2009 6:01 pm Fantastic transformation! You must be loving it! Have you decided on paint colours yet? And what are your plans for window coverings? ....I'm guessing the old curtains in the background there are getting the flick? Re: Kitchen photos 5Dec 01, 2009 6:46 am Thanks for your replies! Yes, i'm definitely enjoying the 'transformation' (but am really looking forward to fridge/freezer going in!!!) Kek - the entire interior of the house will be painted hog bristle half strength next week, so that will make an almighty HUGE difference to the house. The curtains will definitely be going eventually, i've just got to decide on something that will suit and practical. Mango - I'm itching to get the floors re-sanded!! But that will be the last job - although i've booked him in for the week before christmas, so it's all happening! I'm VERY new to this renovation stuff, so the only thing for splashbacks which i've really liked so far are glass splashback tiles (300mm x 100mm size). Otherwise a full piece of glass has to be sent to Hobart to be toughened, etc! (joys of living in a small town, ). If anyone has any suggestions, i'd be really happy to hear about them! I'm thinking of a dark brown colour, as there is so much cream (esp with the walls painted hog's!), i'll need to break it up, and since my tiles are almost an exact match to the benchtops - it makes sense! Thanks for the encouragement, Cheers Re: Kitchen photos 6Dec 01, 2009 8:36 am Glass tiles would be gorgeous - but personally, I wouldn't go dark brown. A medium tone would my preference, perhaps still in the brown family ....maybe a honey colour? Toffee? Caramel? .... I seem to have a food theme going on here. It looks fabulous and I agree with kek, a toffee colour would be delicious Re: Kitchen photos 8Dec 01, 2009 12:55 pm cool - you guys are certainly the experts, so i'll be going with that idea. And i love glass too, was my first pick!! Thanks heaps. Re: Kitchen photos 9Dec 01, 2009 1:29 pm Well done on the transformation. But a couple of things seem a bit odd. Why did you put the door so close to the sink? Also, there doesn't seem like a lot of bench space for dirty plates when washing up. Considering the dish drainer is on the left, you would be washing up from right to left. Re: Kitchen photos 10Dec 01, 2009 2:46 pm The door will actually be opening the other way as of next week. I have a solid wooden door going there, the architraves will be going around and i didn't see any sense wasting space, so thought i might as well take the kitchen bench all the way along to the architrave to give more space for dishes (which has left 450mm bench on the right). I had to have the drain that way as the rules on how close powerpoints could be to sinks didn't allow for it any other way. So unless i had the sink in the island bench (which i refused to do ) - that was my only option. Besides - that's what a double drawer dishwasher is for!! (which goes under bench this weekend!) YAY! Re: Kitchen photos 13Dec 02, 2009 6:36 pm Its always good to replace the old, do you miss those kitchen taps ! Good choice to upgrade those ! Big difference, awesome kitchen. Makes you feel like spending time in that room again. Well done. Happy 2010 To Everyone !! Still crazy about my new kitchen, link removed by my request The bathroom is next on the list, coming soon !!! Re: Kitchen photos 15Dec 07, 2009 10:59 am livingsimply Thanks for your replies! Thanks for the encouragement, Cheers one small area of concern is the holes for the dishwasher in the side of the cabinet ,at that level they will impede the dishwasher to fully sit inside the enclosure ,holes should be drilled through kick board level and then drilled through base of cabinet to connect to water Re: Kitchen photos 16Dec 07, 2009 11:58 am Huge improvement - well done!! Building 'The Kingston' (with 'Boston' elevation) through Blueprint Homes in Hocking, Perth **PCI complete 06.02.10** My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17607 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 7013 2 5522 that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7692 |
