Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 10, 2009 9:40 am Hi Guys .. Just thinking that with Laminates, you get certain finishes you can choose from .. Flint/Dimension/Gloss etc .. In anyone's experience, do they cost differently? Also, has anyone got a particular finish they are happy with it or not? My kitchen guy says he cant give a gloss finish on the laminate, although the laminex site clearly says its available in that finish .. I'm not sure what to think! .. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Laminate finishes .. Flint/High Gloss .. Anyone done? 2Nov 10, 2009 9:45 am By gloss, I'm assuming you mean diamond gloss? It is readily available in benchtops. Apparently, they can do it in cupboards but it is $$$$$$ so it is very rare. Although I think one of the new M3tr1c0n displays at Alamanda has the gloss finish on some cabinetry..... I think. But it maybe a Parbury colour rather than a Laminex colour. All my cabinetry is in natural finish, I like it. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Laminate finishes .. Flint/High Gloss .. Re: Laminate finishes .. Flint/High Gloss .. Anyone done? 5Nov 10, 2009 11:40 am My new kitchen cabinets are made from a product called Lamiwood. Comparing it to laminex samples it seems to have slightly more texture than the flint/natural finish but not the gloss level of the dimensions finish. I just checked all the kitchen quotes I had done, they were all going to use Lamiwood for the cabinets. My benchtops are in Laminex Dimensions finish. Kitchen has only recently been installed, still waiting to do the splashback, but I'm very happy with it all. Re: Laminate finishes .. Flint/High Gloss .. Anyone done? 6Nov 10, 2009 1:02 pm We have diamond gloss laminex benchtops.. the overheard cupboards were Flint. lower cupboards must have been normal as I don't recall anything special about the name. Our builder didnt charge us any extra for either of the above. Diamond gloss was in the standard builders range. Im very happy with the glossy bench and the matte cupboards... benches are enough to try keep clean.. now my only challenge is to stop the puppy chewing on cupboards ! Re: Laminate finishes .. Flint/High Gloss .. Anyone done? 7Nov 10, 2009 3:39 pm wow .. you guys have been lucky to get what you got as standard .. unfortunately we don't have much options .. i wonder if we get the whole kitchen done in laminate, would it be too difficult to get it done in polyurethane or diamond gloss finish later as an upgrade? .. atleast we don't have to fork out all that money right now with all the expenses! --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do!
