Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 03, 2009 8:24 pm Hi guys, myself and my fiance are inthe process of building our 1st home using a company from homeworld. We just recieved our quote for the kitchen and found that we would be charged an additional $4000 if we choose ceasar stone over laminex... Does this seem overkill? We are looking to maybe having a ceasar fitted at a later point if there is much of a price difference... Thanks guys, any help is muh appreciated. ps. It's not an overly huge kitchen either. Re: Price hike from laminex to ceasar 2Nov 03, 2009 8:28 pm mmmm seems dear - depends on how much benchspace you're talking about, and how thick the caesarstone is, 20mm or 40mm? we are getting 2x benchtops about 2.7m long each, 20mm thickness = $2000 in a promotional pack. Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! Now comes all the hard work-decorating.... We really wanted 40mm caesarstone but they wanted to charge us $6000-$8000 for that. l'm pretty sure it is a lot cheaper to get it done with an external party. Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! It's not an overly huge kitchen either. $4000 does sound like a lot, but be sure that you're clear about what you're getting.... my prices are probably irrelevant, as our tender was completed in mid-2007, but we paid around $1300 to upgrade from laminate to 20mm Quantum Quartz benchtops with a 40mm edge. Some things to consider: How wide are your benches? How long? Does the price include the entire Caesarstone range (I know that some QQ choices were more expensive)? What types of edges are available? Does it include waterfall edges (also called aprons)? Undermount sink or standard? Would any other changes need to be made to cabinets if you swapped benchtops later? Re: Price hike from laminex to ceasar 5Nov 03, 2009 10:59 pm One more thing to consider is that u would have to also leave your splash back untill after as u wouldnt be able to replace the laminate with the stone and have the splash fit exactly if you did it before. Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7094 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35312 Just to makea point about this, an approach that some people have found sucessful in negotiating these rises down, Is to provide some workings to the builder, specifying… 4 81694 |
