I'm thinking about ditching the overhead cupboards in our kitchen. I saw a picture with just shelves instead, like the Ikea Lack shelving (hidden mount shelving) and really love this look.
I like the clean look, and have fallen in love with how these shelves look in kitchens. I wouldn't use them as storage exactly, more just to house nice bits and pieces so they don't look cluttered.
We will have them on the wall at the back of our kitchen, on either side of a canopy rangehood.
The fact we will be losing extra storage doesn't really matter, as we are also having a walk in pantry with floor to ceiling storage on both sides.
Has anyone done anything like this? We will be having an all white kitchen with timber flooring and a glass splashback, so I was thinking the shelves would be a nice way to put some interest in the kitchen?
Can you see any problems/pitfalls with doing something like this?
Edited to add - my husband just says 'do whatever you want' but I can see he thinks I'm a bit weird for thinking this is a good idea
