Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Softclose hinges 2Oct 18, 2009 8:47 pm Soft close hinges won't blow your budget - they can actually be an add on to an existing hinge with some brands and that may only be a dollar or two, and note that only one hinge per door requires the soft close mechanism. cheers Re: Softclose hinges 4Oct 18, 2009 10:06 pm We are getting soft closed drawers but not the expensive mechanism like what Blum has out. It does the same job but less than half the price. I think we were quoted somewhere around $100 or so for the blum soft closed ones and that was just for one drawer. We went for the cheaper option. Re: Softclose hinges 6Oct 19, 2009 8:58 am 75etd Thanks for sharing. Where did you get/your friends get the add on soft close or the cheaper options? Is Bunnings the place to go, or other kitchen shops? I'm pretty sure my Mate got his directly from Hettich, but he is in the furniture business so I guess he gets them wholesale. Re: Softclose hinges 7Oct 19, 2009 3:16 pm Re: Softclose hinges 8Oct 19, 2009 3:38 pm the blum addons are great used them at the last place, i prefer the proper softclose draws rather than the knock in addons but appreciate there is a big price difference. hmm i think i still had a bag left over from the last place of softclosers should ebay some of this stuff ... Re: Softclose hinges 9Oct 19, 2009 4:04 pm Those drawer dampers sold at ikea are actually clipped onto the back of drawer rails to catch the drawer, not those bumpers stuck on the door frame like the one in picture. Those bumpers are not that useful, i agree. you can also buy the whole drawer with soft closing mechanism from ikea rather than as an add-on.
