Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 12, 2009 2:30 pm Hello All I have kind of maxed out my budget so I am only left with the option of laminate doors for my kitchen. I was quoted $2250.00 for vinyl wrap. Does anyone know if the gloss look doors are a standard laminate with no extra cost or if you have to pay extra and have them vinyl wrapped. I had to pay $220 for my bench to be gloss laminate. Thanks Kel Building in Mooroolbark! Door upgrades 2Oct 12, 2009 2:35 pm Hi Kel, Vinyl wrap aren't usually glossy, they have a more textured feel. The gloss requires a different kind of application of coating. i think the gloss is more expensive than vinyl wrap. We have vinyl wrap and are happy with them but they definitely didn't have glossy options in that finish. Door upgrades 3Oct 12, 2009 2:45 pm We used the Parbury Thermo-laminated surface (which I understand is the same as vinyl wrap) - it is called Colorform. We chose the crystal finish, because I prefer it, but we also had the options of a Matte finish or a High Gloss finish. From what I understand, the crystal finish is the cheapest, the Matte a bit more expensive and the High Gloss the most expensive of all. Unfortunately, as I didn't want High Gloss, I never priced it, so cannot help you there. Door upgrades 5Oct 13, 2009 9:50 am My present 6-year-old kitchen has vinyl wrapped doors. It is terrible, the vinyl peels off (it only stayed on about 3 years). I believe vinyl wrapped doors are generally regarded as the bottom of the food chain. Your builder wants to charge extra? Re: Kitchen help please... I really wanted to have white vinyl wrap cupboards too, probably similar to you. We just couldn't justify the expense, preferring to upgrade other items. Also, my sister-in-law has vinyl wrap and hers is peeling, so reluctantly I accepted the fact that I will have to have laminated cupboards. You are going to love that spa bath anyway! Re: Kitchen help please... Door upgrades 8Oct 15, 2009 3:03 pm Yes this is true I will love the Spa - I am thinking I might ask how much for a couple of the overhead cupboards to be done in perspex cos that can look really nice too. Also the cabinet maker has delayed me now so it wont be till next week.... Building in Mooroolbark!
