Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 09, 2009 8:08 am This is my kitchen at the moment minus the flooring Im unsure of what to do as we recently started floating floors but the floor is uneven and its not working. Thats another story anyway. I was wanting to add a few draws one being under the oven. And possible change a few doors as they have water damage. I was wanting ideas on where i can get these from and is it worthwhile. I also feel my kitchen needs a bit of colour most accesories are red so I would like something to match that even if I paint the walls. I am open to ideas of adding a bit of colour or style to my kitchen there is just one requirement CHEAP. I just dont want to spend to much as we only plan to be in this house a few years. Im looking forward to hearing some dieas so please post!!!! Thanks heaps. That's probably the cheapest option and could be installed over the existing tiles. You could paint (sanding then laminate paint or ESP+semi-gloss) the upper cabinets and the tower below/above the oven to break up the white-ness. Adding draws would probably require some cabinet work and that might be costly. Best option is to get a kitchen cabinet-maker to help out with the splashback (they will be able to source them at trade prices and install them) and ask for quotes on changing cabinets to draws. I wouldn't change the wall colour (it looks like it ties in to a living area). But maybe consider changing the blind and definitely the lighting (drop pendants over the breakfast bar, maybe a couple of downlights for task lighting). Hope that gives you a few ideas ? I agree! A red roman blind would make a world of difference, I'm sure. If you have the budget, lighting and perhaps the rangehood? I wouldn't change much else - that kitchen's a good example of classic style that won't date. An alternative to getting pot drawers retrofitted would be to install a sliding shelf in that cupboard - might be much cheaper and give you close to the same functionality. Kylie One person's "cheap" is another person's "tell 'em they're dreamin'" Is CHEAP as close to $0 as possible, or is CHEAP - $2500 would be alright ? Re: Kitchen reno ideas?CHEAP 5Oct 14, 2009 6:46 am Hey Thanks for your replies. We actually just changed the rangehood. I might look at the slide out draws inside the cubboards. I will be changing the bench tops as it has a bit of water damage and I need to change the sink to a single so I can fit a dishwasher. i thought about painting the cubboards but on some of them they are a little bit water damaged on the bottom. people befor us must if used the whole kitchen to wash the dishes. Ill look into a new splash back but but the tiles go write around the kitchen so im not sure how to work it. Thanks again. Re: Kitchen reno ideas?CHEAP 6Oct 14, 2009 9:21 pm Ive been researching my options for a blind for the kitchen like sugested. Can anyone lead me in the write direction. I cant seem to find any coloured blinds wanting red or was thinking red and blue sorta retro funky style. I have been searching on the net for ages and cant find any colours. Any ideas? Re: Kitchen reno ideas?CHEAP 7Oct 14, 2009 10:44 pm I think they may be called "bonded roller blinds". I currently have them in my kitchen. Mine are 100% blockout, so keep in mind if you will still get plenty of natural light. I found this place on the internet which had some great fabrics, they also have a calculator there to work out prices. They have blinds from $202 and bonded pelmets from $99. If you leave the blind up mostly anyway maybe a pelmet would work with your existing blind. Try and insert some warmth also, even by changing the colour of your tea towels and oven mits i know your having floor issues, but i think a floating timber floor would also transform the room. your new kitchen and living area looks great and we need accurate dimensions to be specific but with the thickness of the brick column you may be able to line the inside… 1 1216 1.
