Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 06, 2009 3:02 pm Does anyone know much about flue extensions for rangehoods? I have bought a 70cm glass canopy rangehood but as I have high ceilings, it won't be long enough to reach the ceiling. I need to buy an extension, but the guy at the store seems to think it will be best if I source my own and not from the rangehood manufacturer, as you will see the join. Wouldn't you see the join no matter where you got the extension from? Or is there a way to do it so the join isn't that visible? Is there a place that I can get them from that isn't the rangehood manufacturer? Hope someone can help!! Re: Rangehood Flue Extension 2Oct 07, 2009 10:53 am We had the same situation. We took the piece of flue that came with the rangehood to a local metal fabricator and they used it as a template to make a longer copy of it which they then powdercoated to match (our rangehood was black). I can't remember the cost but it wasn't exorbitant. If you've got a stainless steel hood then that might need some elbow grease on your part to polish it up. Re: Rangehood Flue Extension 3Oct 07, 2009 2:01 pm I would take out the short piece. Order in a piece of #4 finish stainless steel lasercut to the correct dimensions to press the metal into a box. Press into a box, make sure join is at the back. Put into place. Peel off protective plastic that comes with the #4 stainless. Whammo extension done. Re: Rangehood Flue Extension 4Oct 07, 2009 5:58 pm Ahhhh ok! So what you guys are saying is forget the piece that comes with the rangehood and forget about getting an extension to go with it - instead, go and source a single piece that's long enough? See this is why I post and ask stupid questions, cos I just didn't think of that! Thankyou!! Now, to find a place in Perth that can do this for me...
