Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 02, 2009 8:55 am Hi Guys We are currently building our new place and have gone with the following colours - Floors strandwoven semi gloss natural bamboo (so a light colour) - interior wall 'Dulux Half duck white' - feature walls 'Dulux Olive leaf' - Theatre room to be in 'dulux hennah red' The big questions is our glass splashback. The kitchen is white benchtops with white cabinetry. We cant decide if we should put the splashback in the olive leaf or the henna red. We are not big fans of introducing too many colurs to the colour scheme but rather a K.I.S.S approach. We are happy to use the same coluors but in different shades eg maybe go the full white duck splashback but i thought it may be a bit bland we also thought the henna red gave a bit of a heritage feel with the green, and we are going more contemporary/modern (earthy colours) Open to any suggestions or thoughts. Here is the house plan. Currently the 'L' shape walls in dining room are feature walls as well as the living room wall that backs onto the hallways/masterbedoom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: help with splashback colour - again 2Oct 02, 2009 9:09 am Are you putting in skylight or anything? Just looking at your plans, the kitchen area will be a bit dark. There's really only one window (living room) to get light to the living, dining and kitchen area. I'd go a light colour if it was me, because of the lack of natural light. If you check out Haywgl's thread, she has a White Duck splashback with a white kitchen and light walls. Edit: some pics of Haywgl's kitchen. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Windows are far away. How else will sunlight get into there? You need a light and neutral splashback. Re: help with splashback colour - again 6Oct 03, 2009 7:16 pm Has anyone got any pics of the oliveleaf in a splashback, especailly against a white kitchen? Just out of curiosity what is the 'obsession' with natural light to the kitchen? There are so many plans where kitchens are centralized and arent close to windows. Effective lighting solves this issue i have found in previous homes Also why a neutral splashback when the kitchen is all white? To me this just looks 'dull'. If you we are going to add some colour and spend the money on a glass splashback shouldnt it be a feature and not just 'blend in' Re: help with splashback colour - again 7Oct 03, 2009 7:49 pm Hi scott_tanya, im no kitchen expert at all and am having enough problems choosing my colours but if i was having an all white kitchen i would definately go for a splashback with some colour. I have been looking at the polytech (think thats what it is!) website and am currently loving the aqua/blue/mint type colours but have a look on there and it gives you lots and lots of different ideas!. Good luck! V Thankyou so much ๐ I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK ๐ 2 7158 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3267 |
