Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 30, 2009 11:11 pm Our oven has just been installed, and it looks to me like the hole was cut too big. I'd imagined the cabinetry would snuggly fit around the oven, so you wouldn't see anything but silver. The gap at the top is really bugging me, I hope its not meant to be like that. I've tried a google search for other pictures of the oven installed but can't find any... Just wondering what everyone else thinks? Oh and the reason the cupboard at the top right is ajar is because the gas piping for the oven was put behind there, and it now it won't close. I'll be calling the SS tomorrow to see how they're going to fix that. http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss285/shellhow/30-09-0926Medium.jpg Re: Does this look right to you? 2Sep 30, 2009 11:36 pm My guess is that it is there to vent hot air from aroun the oven. The setup looks very similar to our Technica 900, and when its running you fet a gentle jet of hot air comming from the top of the oven. (its not clear when I magnify the picture if there is a further gap above the vents though ) Re: Does this look right to you? 3Sep 30, 2009 11:43 pm Hi Shell83, Is it a Technika T948? If it is you can go on their website, find the model and download the PDF which gives you the cut-out dimensions. If you are lucky a picture of it will come up on their Home page. Unfortunately this picture changes most times you go on the site. I tried to copy it to show you but it didn't work. Hopefully the same picture will come up for you. I had to re-enter the site about 4 times to see it again. Re: Does this look right to you? 4Oct 01, 2009 12:27 am kazza Hi Shell83, Is it a Technika T948? Thanks Kazza, I found the PDF on the website and it shows a picture of the oven in cabinetry and it does have that gap at the top, so I guess that answers my question Re: Does this look right to you? 5Oct 01, 2009 9:39 am I dont know about the oven, but I do about the drawer, I have exactly the same thing. They need to make the length of the drawer smaller because it hits the gas pipe. I am not sure whether they cut out a corner of the back or reduce the whole length, I got told I would not notice. Yeah, I spoke to the SS this morning who said they would be shortening the drawer. I'm a little annoyed because I paid a small fortune to upgrade to the pot drawers and now they are making it smaller . It is only a few centimetres though, if it was any more I wouldn't be so forgiving. Re: Does this look right to you? 8Oct 01, 2009 4:17 pm Quote: You would think they could put all that in the wall eh? The gas pipe is in the wall, it sticks out, therefore the drawer hits it, so the drawer needs to be shortened. Re: Does this look right to you? 9Oct 01, 2009 6:57 pm Nathan SteelFab You would think they could put all that in the wall eh? That's what I thought, or maybe under the oven cos there is space available there, but I was told it has to be accessible, which is why they put it behind the drawer, so if they need to get to it they can just take the draw out. Re: Does this look right to you? 10Oct 01, 2009 7:01 pm Re: Does this look right to you? 11Oct 01, 2009 7:06 pm Mine is like that too, but I have a pretend handle above mine so it isn't very obvious. Will show you a photo later. Also had gas pipes behind one of mine but they took the drawer and cut it back so it would fit. Re: Does this look right to you? 12Oct 01, 2009 8:00 pm I'm glad its not quite as obvious with my darker coloured cabinets than in the technika pic. Suh - is yours the same model?? How is it going, I have heard some not so good things about Technika ovens on here Re: Does this look right to you? 13Oct 02, 2009 9:13 am shell83 I'm glad its not quite as obvious with my darker coloured cabinets than in the technika pic. Re: Does this look right to you? 14Oct 02, 2009 9:53 pm shell83 How is it going, I have heard some not so good things about Technika ovens on here We have a 900 technica oven (have had for 5 years now) and my wife loves it. As a chef she wanted to initially get a combo oven (?) that can cook with steam and as a fan forced electric oven. The prices we found at the time were ridiculous; as were some of the big brand name ovens (e.g. Cleanmade and some Italian brands) At the end of the day do you want a good oven, or bragging rights with your friends? The technica is a great oven (agreed it’s not the best - but the price was fantastic, and value for money it won hands down in the quality oven department IMHO) PS - we have recently ordered another free-standing technica for our new house. They using concrete or timber sleepers? Timber or steel uprights? Any drainage behind sleeper? 3 5881 I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab. I have allowed for a bed thickness of up to 20mm to accommodate the different… 0 17539 Thanks for that, the PVC pipe is still about 40cm below ground level and it sticks out of the sand with no end cap or anything on it just open pipe, is this the finished… 2 10469 |
