Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 22, 2007 11:06 pm Might seem like a silly question but how to you go about having powerpoints with glass splashbacks. I was going to use glass on my wall side which is where I have some permanent and non-permanent appliances that need power. I thought cutouts would be a risky business.
Secondly I am kinda copying the colour scheme for the laminex relaxed kitchen, which is an olive green splashback. Any problems with dark over light colours long term, other than colour preference. Jola You get the powerpoint slots cut into the glass by the splashback maufacturer. Adrian B Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 3Jun 23, 2007 11:07 am And from what other have said, every hole is expensive, to the less the better.
I'd assume that the risk of breaking it with every hole cut is part of the reason. There is another thread here talking about those issues. Steve Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 4Jun 23, 2007 12:52 pm Hi
Splashbacks over hobs are toughened and the toughening tends to break glass around holes - elsewhere annealed glass is OK for holes. I've seen some glass tiles that are nice too and a little cheaper but need to check their fire rating so haven't decided between options yet. I'll probably only need one large power point so that cost isn't too bad...thanks.
Jola Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 7Jul 09, 2007 9:13 pm Why not have them in the kitchen bench, wiring coming up from your cabinetry, cutting the toughened glass is bad news, it could break.
Also it could detract from a really nice glass wall. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 8Jul 09, 2007 9:20 pm ![]() Why not have them in the kitchen bench, wiring coming up from your cabinetry, cutting the toughened glass is bad news, it could break. In bench power points have the same regulations as the ones on the walls. Now where to get them? ![]() Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 14Jul 09, 2007 10:42 pm As far as I can tell.. they only come with European type sockets.
I suppose you could buy European kitchen appliances to go with it. ![]() Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 15Jul 09, 2007 10:43 pm just googled.
This looks fantastic but pricey and since made in europe, we will have compatibility problems unless they manufacture for aussie electrical appliances. Please keep me posted if its available in Australia... I an 3 wks from contract signing... vp Re: Powerpoints and glass splashbacks 17Jul 10, 2007 11:13 am Go to an electrical wholesaler, they will either sell you some…..or tell you where to get them. I have seen them, along with lighting, installed over benches in IKEA kitchens. Seemed like a neat idea to me.
