Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 30, 2009 4:46 pm We have the 900mm Bellissimo Technika freestanding oven with the glass canopy rangehood.. we have been in the house less then 3 weeks and I already DESPISE it. The 2nd time we used it the fan stopped working, the oven made a very loud 'pop' sound and the elecrity saftey switch for the oven turned off. The service people took about a week to come out and the service guy said that the plumber had left a pipe too far out of the wall so the fan was hitting it which caused the problems. So he replaced it and left the oven about.. 10cm away from the wall and left. We haven't actually got around to calling our SS again to let him know what the Technika guy said about the plumbing.. and instead continued to use the oven away from the wall so it wouldn't cause problems.. but my DP just called and said the oven has $hat itself again. I could count on one hand how many times we have used this oven.. yet twice is has done this. That and it rattles constantly.. it's extremely loud and so is the rangehood. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE IT!! I'm not even much of a cook.. but it annoys me when I can't use something because it keeps bloody breaking. I've just read back through all the technika threads and can see I'm not the only one wishing for a different oven. Re: Vent about technika ovens. 2Sep 30, 2009 8:25 pm Oh no what a pita Hope your ss and technika get on top of the problem straight away. Ours will be installed in the next few weeks so i hope i don't have the same problems. Can I ask what model it is? Re: Vent about technika ovens. 3Oct 06, 2009 6:17 pm snhouse, i'm not sure which model it is.. but it's the one included in the access range with the promotion. It's the 90cm bellissimo. Well.. the oven guy has been out a SECOND time and apparently he's "drilled a hole so the fans shaft and bolt wont hit the back guard" Umm.. is it just me.. or does drilling a hole in an oven that should work perfectly fine.. sound really ******* to you?? I think I might speak to our SS and let him know I'm not happy at all that someone has to drill holes in our oven for it to work properly.. especially since it's less then a month old. Re: Vent about technika ovens - UPDATE:Drilling Holes in Oven?? 4Oct 06, 2009 6:32 pm It certainly does sound *******, not so much from the oven so much, but obviously the placement of the oven is wrong if they have to alter it to fix properly!!! I'd ring too!! Ours is not in the Bellissimo range. The only Technika problem we have had is the built in microwave, as youve probably read about. The service people at Technika dont actually fix the damn stuff.. they took over a week to come to our place, and when they did come, they didnt even finish the job off.....saying the fix was 'temporary'.. Good luck. Re: Vent about technika ovens - UPDATE:Drilling Holes in Oven?? 8Oct 08, 2009 10:59 am Thanks everyone for your replies, I will be giving my SS a call today. Not too sure how that will go though. S&P, I read about your microwave issues.. hope they are able to offer more then a temporary fix for you! We use our microwave more then our oven.. so I'd be even more annoyed at the thought of that! The oven is working.. Okay. But I'm worried about the fact there's been a hole drilled in our oven that it may void any warranties.. or cause dramas later down the track. So I'll get my SS to speak to the Technika guy that came out and see what my SS has to say. Who is jcjuice Ari? Re: Vent about technika ovens - UPDATE:Drilling Holes in Oven?? 9Oct 08, 2009 7:26 pm That's disappointing Erin.... we had issues with our rainwater tank that took four months to sort out, and was due to crappy installation, but it works like a dream now. Hopefully, your oven will work out the same way. Just quietly though, we had a Technika Bellisimo under-bench oven and cooktop in the house we rented (brand new) and we weren't impressed.... Re: Vent about technika ovens - UPDATE:Drilling Holes in Oven?? 10Oct 08, 2009 8:10 pm My oven has a rattling sound to it too but I think it's the tray I had put in the oven and not the oven itself. So far mine's working fine 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' I probably should have researched the oven before we just accepted it was part of the package.. I'm not much of a cook though.. so i didn't give it much thought. I can't wait for house no. 2, i've learnt so much with this one!! lisanne My oven has a rattling sound to it too but I think it's the tray I had put in the oven and not the oven itself. So far mine's working fine I hate to say this Lisa.. but ours started with a rattling sound too.. nietzche the common theme here is technika... Really? Didn't notice that myself.. Well I contacted our SS and let him know what we'd been experiencing with the oven, he said that when the oven is installed there is a flexi pipe and sometimes this can come in and out and get caught up in the fan or something.. but he said they should have secured it at installation. I also pointed out to him the person that installed it put the oven trays in upside down and left all the plastic on the oven.. so he probably wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I told my SS I'd like him to call the technika service person that came out to speak to him about what had taken place.. as I don't speak 'oven'. He said that would be fine. While I was on the phone, I mentioned the towel rail didn't have anything to put it on the wall.. he said he'd organise some and bring them over for me. So I'm a little happier today.. I cooked in my oven last night.. stuffed potatos.. and it worked fine. Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. Re: Vent about technika ovens - UPDATE:Drilling Holes in Oven?? 13Oct 18, 2009 9:44 pm I am building with WA Housing Centre, which comes under the BGC building group, and all of their designs come with Technika appliances. Upgrading to a Smeg was too much for us. I have read good and bad reviews about Technika, so I think it may be down to luck, unfortunately. Certain brands should be reliable, so I hope we don't have any issues. We have enough to worry about building a new home.
