Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 27, 2009 11:56 am I've pretty much chosen all my colours now, but am stuck when it comes to the kitchen splashback. We have chosen glass, but not the colour yet. The lower cupboards and underneath the breakfast bar is Formica charred oak, top cupboards are just white with glass and the benchtops are essa stone purity. I love that frothing mocha that has come up quite a bit, but my hubby hates the metallic look. Do you think a mocha colour like that without the "sparkly" bits would look o.k, or should I go something different?? I'm confused on what will look good. Re: Another splashbach colour help 2Sep 27, 2009 12:04 pm Hi Rizzo, Don't know if you've looked at my glass splashback thread, but there are heaps of pictures on there of different coloured glass - might help you decide what you like....? viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22352 This thread is also really good for ideas: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23376 MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Another splashbach colour help 3Sep 27, 2009 12:10 pm What other colours do you have? What floors have you chosen? Are you just after a neutral colour? The charred oak looks to me like it has grey brown tones. Safe choices would be the natural, green tinge glass, pure white or to pick a lighter version of the grey brown for the splashback. I probably wouldnt pick the frothing mocha with the charred oak but that is just my opinion. Now if you want something more daring, my friend has a dark woodgran kitchen similar to yrs, stainless aplliances with the green tinge glass and she painted the walls a retro blue. All looks great and i think the retro blue, greeny blue, colour would work with the charred oak as a splashback. Mango, we are having marri floorboards and the walls are all going to be white. Was thinking of a white splashback, but wasnt sure. I'm not really keen on blue at the moment, but that could change lol. I was after something quite natural. What does the natural green tinge glass look like?? Anyone used it? Can you see through it? ETA - not sure if it make a difference, but we will more than likely be doing the walls whisper white Re: Another splashbach colour help 7Sep 27, 2009 5:11 pm Virginia8586 has just had her natural glass splashback installed, with the green tinge. Re: Another splashbach colour help 8Sep 27, 2009 5:14 pm The natural glass is white paint on the back of natural glass which has a green tint to it. Looks very elegant and this will work great with your colours. You cant see through it. There is another thread in the general forum which has the green natural splashback. Which soomeone else posted as i was typing A plain white splash would also look nice but you would have to have the starfire or opti clear glass. If you are choosing between the natural or white i vote for the green tinge glass. I think it would complement your lower cupboards and as you can see from the pic, looks lovely Re: Another splashbach colour help 9Sep 27, 2009 5:20 pm Mrs Rusty also has natural glass: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee3/mychichi06/IMG_1553_r.jpg And one of my favourite kitchen renos, Monkey68: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! I think that the same one would go brilliantly with your colour choices. Good luck Rizzo! Re: Another splashbach colour help 13Sep 27, 2009 8:52 pm Thanks everyone, so much to think about. I lurrrve red, but I'm not sure how it would go with the colour. I really like those kitchens with the natural glass. wonder if my husband will agree. Thanks for the pics, will have to show him when he gets home on Tuesday. Re: Another splashbach colour help 14Sep 28, 2009 1:16 pm I'm just going to tell you what I would do if I had these colours....I would keep it simple and probably go with the white painted clear glass, which will give you the green tinge, and I love that turquoise look with the dark cupboards, it's simple it's stylish and will give it a lift. You will have all the bottom cupboards in the Charred Oak and I honestly don't think you need anymore dark colour.
