Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 26, 2009 8:32 pm Thought that would get your attention Went shopping today for appliances (again ) Good Guys versus Harvey Norman Harvey Norman salesman asked me why I wanted a 90cm Blanco oven, rather than the 75cm as they are both the same size ovens which I couldn't see until he pointed out that the controls were on the side of one & top of the other I even made him swap the shelves to prove his point and what is even more astounding is the $1000 difference in price Why don't all the salesmen tell you that So glad I got the guy that I did, as I've changed my mind & will go with the 75mm oven. I know that my free standing oven/top plates all in 1 is 90cm wide and the top of the oven has the full width which is going to be awesome!! I know that my free standing oven/top plates all in 1 is 90cm wide and the top of the oven has the full width which is going to be awesome!! Hi lisanne Yep, it's an oven on it's own - I will get the 75cm cook top now as well. He said I could have a 90cm cook top with it as long as the range hood was 90cm but the 75cm cooktop has five burners & is sufficient for me Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 5Sep 27, 2009 12:05 pm I found the same thing!! Had chosen all of my appliances and had gone with Smeg 90cm oven, cooktop and rangehood. Then went to a Smeg pre-purchase demonstration and it was only there that they mentioned that the 70cm oven has the same internal dimensions as the 90cm!! So I changed my order to all 70cm an saved about $2,000!!! Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 7Sep 27, 2009 12:58 pm I was wondering what it would look like too, so curiosity got the better of me and I think the 90cm may be this one http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz184/gokazza/90cmBlanco.jpg I never knew ovens where made like that, seen side opening doors before but not side controls. What would the benefits be? Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 8Sep 27, 2009 1:42 pm I also found this to be similar with the over I chose. I went into Harvey norman wanting to purchase the Omega 90cm free standing oven, I had been told that the 90cms ovens took forever to heat, which in turn cost a lot more to run so I asked the sales man, to which he confirmed this and said it's because some have internal insulation and some don't, he pointed me in the direction of the Ariston 90cm free standing which has internal insulation, cheaper to run but doesn't have the full 90cm width, I think from memory it was about 84cm internally, which is still plenty big enough for us and I have the bonus of it not taking forever to heat up and costing a mint to run! What would the benefits be? Yep, just means the controls are on the side of the 90cm oven and along the top of the 75cm oven - same oven only different dimensions outside You can save a small fortune - unreal Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 10Oct 03, 2009 6:17 pm We have a freestanding 90cm oven in our rental, and I love it. I insisted to hubby that we get one in the new house. He made me print out the specs to present my 'case' and that is when I discovered the Westinghouse ovens are the same 70cm or 90cm. They have the same 'internal' size. It is only with a freestanding oven that you get the 'true' 90cm internal. So we are having a 90cm cooktop, cause I loved the 5 burners on top and with a large family I have lots of pots on the go when cooking, with a 90cm rangehood, and a 75cm oven underneath. So we will be going with the 75cm oven, 90cm cooktop and 90cm rangehood Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 17Oct 05, 2009 11:43 pm I can't believe it! I'm certainly not shopping for ovens but I sure am glad that you shared the info, it's something that might just be invaluable to know down the tracks, and well it shows how carefully things need to be considered sometimes. I do love reading all the specs and numbers and comparing stuff to death, so it does make me wonder if I would have actually picked something like that up! Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 18Oct 06, 2009 12:04 am Isn't is amazing what you learn on this site! Our drafter told us that, for a house the size of ours, it would be expected for us to have a bigger oven (either a 90cm or a one-and-a-half stacky type thing. . . there's just the two of us, and we didn't really want to heat a 90cm oven every time we cooked for just the two of us, so we bought two normal 60cm ovens and are putting them on top of each other. . . saved a fortune, and now we have the extra oven for dinner parties and Christmas dinner. (I think we'll probably use the top one the most, so we'll just swap over the positions after about a year). I was so excited when the HN guy told me about the oven being the same as the 90cm, you would have thought I'd found the cure for alzheimers I was rapt ...... yes I was .... well I think I was, I can't remember Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Size doesn't matter apparantly !! 20Oct 06, 2009 9:39 am jodge Our drafter told us that, for a house the size of ours, it would be expected for us to have a bigger oven (either a 90cm or a one-and-a-half stacky type thing. . . there's just the two of us, and we didn't really want to heat a 90cm oven every time we cooked for just the two of us The alternative is something like this which is the model we purchased.
