Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 25, 2009 5:01 pm Hi everyone, We just got our kitchen variations for benchtop, sink and splashback. We work out that we can do the same from quotes we had independently and allowing extra for plumbing for about $3000 less..... Just wondering if anyone had problems with this or have done it and advice for or against. Builder said would be okay to do this if we decided to. Thanks Re: Installing benchtops after handover 2Sep 25, 2009 6:03 pm Great question, that idea has crossed our minds many a time after we toted up all our variation extras on our kitchen. But in our case, we were getting a fancy bench top and needed them to do the cabinetry to fit in with the bench top .. so we bit the bullet and went with the variations. At the end of the day it's all on their (builder's) insurance if anything happens, one trade can't blame the other.... it's the builder's responsibility. Could you perhaps use the $3000 quote as negotiating power on your builders prices? Remember to take in to account the builders insurance if you are going to do your own kitchen after. Good Luck.
