Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 16, 2009 9:10 am I am looking for a stainless steel splashback for between my cooktop and rangehood. I found one by omega. I was wondering if I could buy a utensil rail to stick on it as it does not have one? Also what other brands sell these? Thank you. Re: Stainless steel splashback 2Sep 16, 2009 1:56 pm You can get stainless steel cut to size at any sheet metal fabrication place. They will also be able to pre-drill a couple of holes for you for a utensil rail to be attached. You can then choose the rail you want instead of the rail that comes with the prefab splashback. Hope this helps becdoll, good luck! Re: Stainless steel splashback 3Sep 16, 2009 2:41 pm Hi I work for a Stainless Steel Fabricator in Melbourne, like the advice above, you just ring a fabricator and they will come out an measure, make & install for you if you like, they can do powerpoint cutouts, holes drilled into it, anything really. Just make sure you have Bellis Board (fire retardant board) behind the cooktop and included in the price as this is a requirement by law. Also stainless comes in a vareity of finishes now, the new patterned styles look great, however they are more expensive. hope this helps. I just want the stainless steel between the cooktop and rangehood. There will not be anything else on the wall to the side of it, just paint. I have seem some photos when the steel stops at the start of the rangehood and some where it stops just after the hood of the rangehood. What do you think looks best? Re: Stainless steel splashback 5Sep 17, 2009 9:00 am Personally, I would go for it finishing at the rangehood. To me it would give it a more thought out and finished look. As for the edges, they are just straight...the very edge is very slightly rounded so it's not a sharp edge. Do you have a photo of your kitchen design? Re: Stainless steel splashback 7Sep 22, 2009 1:51 pm I think you would be able to...I would just check with the person you buy it from for expert information. Good luck! I'm not sure if gumption is abrasive or not, but you could check that. I had tried everything and nothing worked, and I was amazed when this stuff worked and so easily.
